....to sfa lol... Like 10 turnovers. I think Baylor game with better execution now is a better comparison

Yeah, but the fact that we were outgained by SFA, couldn't put together a decent drive in the first quarter, only got 24 points created by the offense against an undersized and slow defense, and had to rely on creating turnovers for our defense to stop the vaunted SFA offense points to problems buried deeper within the scoreboard.ponyboy wrote:...SMU won by 52 points on Saturday. I'm not saying that there weren't positives to take away from the game (there were - such as the turnover creation by the defense) or that we can't improve on our faults and have a good season, but the scoreline from the SFA game painted a picture of dominance in a game that we didn't dominate.

Great sitting with you at the game, Calallen.
I saw an SFA team play us even for one quarter before being overmatched by a clearly superior team. Not sure what else we could have reasonably expected from the Mustangs. Is TCU whining about its 56-0 win over Grambling?

Yeah, but . . . yeah, but . . . yeah, but . . .
You know what, let's just forfeit the game against aTm right now . . . clearly they will beat us by at least 60 and get all our starters hurt. Gives us 3 weeks to prepare for TCU who will also beat us by 60. In fact, let's just get rid of our entire football program altogether since it is an absolute disgrace to our fine university.

Don't get me wrong, I think that if you eliminate some of SFA's errors that were clearly unforced (such as the punt into the running back that gave us a short field) and factor out the touchdown that wasn't right before the half (when we fumbled the ball running it back towards the endzone), we would have still won, just by a closer score. Something like 38-21.
Our problems were two-fold:
1) Our offense couldn't get into a rhythm because GG throws rockets on every pass, the receivers drop balls, and the O-Line didn't open any holes for Zach Line.
2) Our defense, while being very opportunistic, struggled to get set with SFA's hurry-up offense, leading to some SFA receivers to get open and resulting in SFA gaining over 400 yards of offense on us.
Coachable errors, so they should be fixed before we get to conference play. I do worry about us getting pushed around physically by the Aggies, though.

Re: This just in...
I just think people are apprehensive about starting the A&M and TCU games with:
Three 3 & outs with a poor punter, followed by an intereception.
We do that, it's curtains by halftime...

Re: This just in...
TCU fans are happy because we looked very crisp on both sides of the ball. 17-17 passing, gave up 70 yards of total offense, 2 penalties and 1 turnover. Of course we should roll Grambling but in the past few years we have sleep-walked early against inferior teams.ponyboy wrote:Great sitting with you at the game, Calallen.

Reedfrawg- I know you guys have a very very good team but my God the Obama/Horn Toad Media made it out like you beat Alabama. The pressure is on now that you play a team beaten by Rice last week. The stadium looks nice BTW.

Re: This just in...
The difference is that TCU could have won 100-0 if they wanted. We only won 52-0 because of the 10 turnovers. SFA had nearly 500 yards of offense. Grambling had 70 total yards. We had several 3 and outs (especially to start the game), and they drove on us at will...ponyboy wrote:Great sitting with you at the game, Calallen.

If we don't score first or get down 14-0, we are done
