SMUMustangs.com has the 2002 roster on the site, although the links to player bios aren't up and running yet. Reading over the roster, a few questions came to mind:
* Jamar Bey, at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, is listed as an OFFENSIVE lineman? I know Coach Faucette added 40 pounds to the frame of DE Melvin Williams, but Bey would have to add what .... 90 pounds?
* Walk-on Brad Bean, all 6-3, 243 pounds of him, played safety last year. Now he's listed at .... defensive TACKLE?
* DB Alan Brockington - never heard of him, but as a redshirt freshman, he's listed at 6-3, 197. Good size for a DB.
* 5-foot-10 RB Derron Brown has pumped himself up to 212 pounds. Has he gotten fat, or is he now a permanent
resident of the weight room?
* Freshman QB Donnie Gilray is listed at 6-1, 200. Wasn't he listed talled and heavier when he signed? I thought I remember him being in the 215-220 range. Maybe he's worked to drop some pounds, but how do you get shorter?
* Freshman Darrin Johnson is down from 295 to 270. He was a star DE in high school, but they're starting him out at TE, at least for now.
* Guard Brad Keischnick is up to 283, which is very encouraging. He's supposed to have the talent and the mentality to be a very good lineman -- now it looks like he's adding the necessary size and strength.
* OL Eric Neal is listed at 6-4, 300. When he walked on a couple of years ago, he was MAYBE 260. Is his size a result of increased muscle or junk food?
* There's a freshman LB on the roster named Luke Pappas (5-11, 215). Who is he?
* Same question applies to freshman WR Raymond Perkins (6-3, 200) of Houson Lutheran. Who is he? And is he any relation to the former New York Giants coach with the same name?
* Like Gilray, DT Marcus Walker appears to be shrinking. When he signed, he was listed at 6-4 or 6-5. Now he's 6-3 and 278?
