Great. If you can beat USC, or at least not blow it aganst a horrible Arizona team, then give 'em a call.

Are we still interested? or is he still interested in us?

I think Printz wanted to play for Jones. Will Jones be at SMU for 4-5 more years? Doubt it.

I think you're probably right, but someone should at least make a phone call

You can't really think about bringing in a QB when we are already bringing in a solid candidate who's been recruiting his [deleted] off and his ties with top Washington state players is one of the reasons we're getting some of the better recruits we are this class. Printz had his opportunity, bringing him in (if you can even guarantee that he stays firmly committed) might bring more trouble than its worth at this juncture. That ship has sailed, he had his chance and the school moved on without him.

Who are we bringing in that's solid?

You think he's better than printz? I thought last year we raved about him being 4* or something, maybe I'm getting him mixed up

Klemm was the guy that got Printz, and Printz still can't trust that June wants to be here. Plus he wants to be the only QB in a class, though he may have to back off that stance since many of the major programs have filled up at QB.
Printz has already setup another visit with Mizz and Mizz has a QB already for this class. You can also expect there to be a few other schools that will reappear at this point as some schools may have missed on other targets. If he doesn't switch to Mizz after the visit, this may be a decision that extends out for several months even up to February.

SMU could still be in the mix but have to deal with what you stated. My guess is that he ends up elsewhere with the possibility of a school closer to his home which Mizz would fit.

Why would a top qb in the 2013 class come here and sit on the bench behind gilbert if he hasnt gone pro and burcham afterward. Some guys want to go where they think they are assured of starting...in other words afraid of competition. Do you really want to recruit guys afraid of competing? And if they are assured by the recruiter they will be the starter then they need to look elsewhere because any coach who promises anything other than a chance to compete is a liar!

It takes all kinds of players to build a program. You can't be so choosy unless you are a very top program and even then it can get dicey like at Florida and UT. Some of the said players who "are afraid of competition" end up being the very best. If there is a position that you don't want there to be any question marks on it is QB. This is probably even more so with a June Jones offense. This is why there is a lot to be said about the model where you go after a top QB and project every other year so they know their roles.

Coaches and recruiters shouldn't be promising playing time to any player but should say they will get a chance to compete and all positions are open. They can also point out the depth chart if that helps their case in this area. I doubt Printz would be scared off by SMU's depth chart at present and doubt that entered into his decision to decommit. At this point in the process, he can't be so choosy either.

SMU fans are funny. The idea is to stack the best recruits 4 deep not worry about who is going to start in 2013. That's what top programs do
