Very true ojaipony, lets hope he takes full advantage of whats being offered. And Josh is a wonderful success...come back from the dead....story. I wish more stories turned out like that.
In case you missed it, there is both an article and video interview of Lowe on Ponyfans main page that discusses how he got here and what he has been doing. This may answer some questions

Thanks Crazy. I thought I heard this guy played at Bethune-cookman. I guess he didn't....not sure how I heard that. He did play one year at Tyler JC. Do you know why he didn't play last year? That was not addressed in the video.

There's a interview with Palcic also, where he mentions Lowe and seemed pretty surprised that Lowe wasn't in better shape. Did not seem postitive about Lowe at all.

He sat out last year because he was at a community college without a football team — was there to finish his associate's degree so he could return to FBS school. I would be surprised if academics were a major concern, since his final three choices were SMU, Purdue and Rice.

I was at LSU when Stavion Lowe was recruited and red shirted and I have maintained a close friendship with him as he has progressed through his academic and athletic career from LSU to TJC and unto SMU.
I highly recommend you trust the coaching staff knows what they are doing. Lowe is an extremely talented player. LSU did not run him off. The decision was made on straight forward facts and LSU did not fit into the long term goals Lowe had for his academic or athletic career.
He is a strong player and when he does step out onto the field, you will be more than grateful to have him. After recently visiting with him, he is on track to be a more powerful player than he ever was. Dropped a lot of weight and added incredible muscle mass, and daily re-improving his agility and speed. He is performing back at the stats he entered LSU with in 2009.
Patience gentlemen... He will be well worth the wait...
One thing I really liked was that early in Fall camp, when Lowe wasn't practicing because he was getting into shape, he wasn't just lazily jogging around. He really had his heart into getting in shape. When other players would run on the same field, he would try as hard as he could to keep up. He didn't come across lazy or anything like that, and hopefully that determination gets him ready sooner rather than later.
