No QB No Bowl Game

Post by ponyfan777 »

It's plain and simple that with the QB play we have seen, that there will be no bowl game this year. IF GG continues to play like what we saw in the Baylor and A&M games, the streak ends at 3, no question about it.

Your thoughts.

Gilbert has not played well.

But does anyone else think that his mediocre to to poor play is letting the receivers completely off the hook?

How much better would Gilbert look if his receivers could catch the damned ball?

the real blame starts with the hc. In addition he refuses to change qb's during the game. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both CP and Burcham left after this year. We need a new coach and staff asap.

Do you think CP was fuming after the game for not getting into the game yesterday? I would transfer if it were me. Burcham may be the future here. GG is not the answer and Preston deserves a chance afterall he was JJ's recruit unlike GG. As to the receivers playing poorly a lot of it has to do with GG throwing to guys who aren't open and missing the ones who are on a given play-poor decisions on GG's part. Most receivers would be a little gun shy when the qb continally throws passes that put them in situations where they will get blasted because they are poorly located throws.

we've all seen that JJ is very stubborn with his QBs. Clearly didn't want Padron in there last year. Wouldn't give up on BLM no matter what. We've seen this plenty of times. Having said that, gotta give Gilbert some chance to develop. Let him have a few more games to see what he can do before making the switch.

It's not like GG is a redshirt freshman-the guy has been around football a long time with very limited results.

He is "still learning the system". I am tired....so tired of this. System is too complicated and the players come and go too often. Our QBs have all been marginal at best - that is all on June and his recruiting. McDermott was 50x better than what we have seen so far. June's flirting with ASU has only hurt himself.

We will see how it goes in conference and by the end of the year. Maybe by mid-season they will all synch up. Hard to say at this point playing far superior teams.

speaking of bowl games, the Pitt game was fools gold. At the time, I wanted to believe it meant that JJ still had the team and everything would be fine internally despite the ASU debacle. In hindsight, what that really was (besides a Pitt team in disarray) was our seniors playing hard and leading for themselves. We may now be seeing the mental and offseason impact the ASU debacle had on the underclassmen and the cohesiveness of the team. The team knows JJ will bail on them in a second, which sets a bad tone in the program. If JJ can't fix it with hard work and energy, which seems very unlikely now, he does just need to leave. That's a real shame because he seemed to be getting somewhere here after the TCU road win last year. The team looked tough and together that day. Not so much right now.

JJ will never go for it, but the run needs to set up the pass. I know this is contrary to the entire "Run and Shoot" system, but ZL48 is hands down the best thing going for this team right now. Very close to on pace to beat Dickerson's record, and he turns every play into positive yardage. Try to get yardage on an incomplete pass. Take pressure off GG by giving him 2nd and 5--because Zach line WILL get 5 yards if JJ mixes up the plays enough--and set up the shorter routes. Establish a rythym and timing and then fish for a long ball here and there. You can't sustain drives with 12- to 15-yard routes or quick passes to the flat.

We kept seeing 5 or 6 Aggies in the box yesterday and knew JJ had called a pass. Does he not have an audible system? Maybe if the QB didn't have to have a meeting with JJ after every play, they could use some time to look at the defense and audible accordingly.

Also, did we complete one single screen pass yesterday? GG was right to throw the ball at Zach's feet; the offense is becoming so incredibly predictable that they had it sniffed out every time.

Can we get someone to sit down with JJ and teach him about clock management and how to use timeouts? Anyone but Les Miles.

Are you guys serious you are putting the blame solely on GG? He has a freshmen O line that are cupcakes to those teams. [deleted] play calling from JJ. WR that love to drop balls as if it were their job. Essentially it's the lack of talent or maturity around GG (excluding ZL, DJ, dieter). I agree Preston should be put in when nothing is happening after 3 qtrs but I mean GG can't do this alone. I truly believe putting the best QB in CFB( maybe not a scrambler) in this offense and he would struggle. #blameJJ

Blame June Jones. The buck stops with him.
