Reality Check...Ouch

Post by alamocitystang »

Here's where we rank in Texas:
1. UT
2. TCU
3. A&M
4. Tech
5. Baylor
6. N. Texas
7. UTSA
8. UTEP
9. Rice
10. SMU
11. Tx State
12. UH

Not sure we can argue being better than even UNT right now but we should get a few points for strength of schedule. We were #7 last week. While I don't think this is a very sophisticated poll, it is probably a pretty accurate depiction of how we are seen by the South Texan...

At least UH wouldn't blow us out like the others have. We just might manage to be competitive (if we're lucky).

I'm willing to look past the Baylor, A&M and TCU games, but having to start conference play with zero confidence in El Paso has 4 win season written all over it. But then again, if you guys are right and we can't beat Tx State then only the Memphis game is winnable. And a 1 win season is a major possibility. Is that what you guys are now predicting?

In all honestly I feel this season is going to go down kind of like PB's last year here. June's attitude and lack of passion has so deeply manifested itself in this team that I don't think there is another game on the schedule outside of Memphis where we will win. Sure we might sneak by a few other CUSA chumps, but I wouldn't bet on 6 wins. Just let this season play out and then hopefully Rick Hart/RGT/CoC make a move. We cannot go into the Big East with June Jones as our head coach.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Whatever. There's more whine flowing on this board than harvest time at Napa.

UH did put up 700 yards total offense against a good Louisiana Tech team though-could our offense win a shootout? Right now you'd have to guess No-but I think things will look a lot different in CUSA.

I think that's what June is counting on. Our O line will be less exposed in conference play. Maybe then we see this "great in practice" QB really show us something. Too early to call this season a failure...Hoping for a miracle so we can keep the skillet!

I think most of us are more concerned that after 5 yrs we are not close to being competitive with lower level BCS schools. That does not bode well for us next year when we move to the BE.

cusa looks pathetic this year. In fact, there are probably some lower level conferences that are equal to or better than cusa this year.

No kidding. In a way, the bye week is much-needed, because of injuries, but on the other hand, it also gives the witch hunt crowd an extra week. The original post also forgot to mention that "this is where SMU ranks in the opinion of someone who probably hasn't seen the Mustangs play in years and doesn't know much about any team outside of Austin."

If all goes as expected with TCU
UTEP would be a critical must-win game...
if we go out to El Paso and lay a big goose egg,
the wheels could come off this program

You are right I hope. If he saw our games we would be at the botto
In the rankings at least Houston can move the ball. Face it this year we are most likely the worst football program in Texas at least to this date
