Tuesday injury updates
Wasn't able to catch up with everyone, but talked to two players who left Saturday's game early and one who didn't play at all.
• WR Ryan Walker didn't dress Saturday after suffering a hip pointer against Stephen F. Austin the previous week. He said he is getting regular treatment and "definitely" will be ready to return for the Ponies' Sept. 29 game against TCU.
• LB Cameron Rogers left the game when fellow LB Kevin Pope's head hit Rogers in the left shoulder (he still has a bruised imprint of Pope's face mask on his shoulder). Rogers watched Tuesday's practice with his arm in a sling with an electronic stimulation machine. He said the SMU medical staff's initial assessment was that there is nothing structurally wrong, but said that an official determination can't be made until after he has an MRI, which likely will be at the end of the week, after swelling goes down. If it is learned that there is no structural damage, his return to the field will depend in large part on pain management and range of motion in the shoulder.
• CB Chris Parks left Saturday's game after re-straining his left hamstring, an injury he initially suffered during practice last week. Parks said he wanted to go back in to the game Saturday, but was told by the trainers that his day was over. He didn't practice Tuesday, and said the hamstring "is tight. I feel it when I walk, but it's not that bad today." He said that he expects to be back in time to play against TCU. "I'm day-to-day right now," Parks said. "I'm going to be getting treatment all the time in the training room, getting ice, getting in the cold tub -- whatever it takes to get it right."

Thanks. What about Gottschalk? He came out twice I believe. How's he doing?

Re: Tuesday injury updates
Ben had a strained left shoulder again, but within a couple of minutes, it was fine and he did not need any physical therapy on Sunday. He did roll his left ankle, but it was taped and he went in for the remainder of the game. They put an ice pack on it after the game, and on Sunday, they put him in a boot for a couple of days.

Re: Tuesday injury updates
Gottschalk practiced Tuesday morning, but I didn't get a chance to catch him for an update. I'll try to touch base with him tomorrow.

Thanks. Glad he is practicing. We need him healthy.

Re: Tuesday injury updates
PP, we seem to have a lot of injuries. Is this typical with other teams?

Re: Tuesday injury updates
With as much time as the D spent on the field against Baylor and aTm, it's a minor miracle those guys are even upright, let alone likely available to play against TCU. They played bigger, physical teams with very little break since the O couldn't stay on the field. Not sure if it is typical to have this many injuries, but they don't surprise me that much either under the circumstances.

Also, I wouldn't necessarily call these injuries. Just players getting banged up over the course of the season. Different between playing hurt and playing injured.
