Re: 10-3
Total BS... June is 4-20 vs WINNING teams...this program is heading NO friggin where with him at the helm..who cares about the damn CUSA?...it means NOTHING Eric in an ever changing BCS/Big Time Conference world and 2 star kids just can't compete with any teams we play on a consistent basis...SMU has absolutely NO relevance nationwide. That is exactly why TCU is in the Big 12 dude and we ARE not....take off your rose colored glasses.
Re: 10-3
Eric, the problem is the offense has left the defense out to dry. The offense has gotten WORSE each week. At least at Baylor there were a few completions in the first half. I sure hope all of us are wrong and things start to click but so far I see ZERO evidence of that in the near future. DJ and Jeremy Johnson should be bailing GG out since they have played in the system, it ain't happening so far.

I remember some of us had mentioned that Jonesy was wishing he was in Arizona......some of us were hoping for him to go to Arizona as well....5-7.

I was reading some of the reports from last winter, pre-ASU & pre-Klemm departure. Crazy to see how many 4 stars Klemm was trying to convince to look at us, many who were committed to high majors. Seems like 120 years ago.
To me, the worst part of the season was not being able to move the ball on SFA and having them rack up yards on us. If not for the 2nd string qb just giving us int's and the blocked kicks, we easily could have lost that game. Plus NO offense in the other two games.
I used to be good with JJ...I hated his lazy recruiting and his offense that has never been able to reliably move the ball (don't tell me it was a lack of good qb play - go out and recruit 3 qb's a year until you've got quality depth if that's the only problem), but was generally good with him since the team was generally getting better and slowly upgrading talent every year.
However, Klemm & Reinebold leaving were troubling to me since they were the only ones who seemed to think recruiting was important. ASU was a problem...and now that our offense can't move the ball, recruiting effort seems to have completely died and we have a roster full of wr's and no depth quality whatsoever at cb, ol or dl, I'm done.
Also burns me up to see our defense play at a high level only to be worn out since they're on the field constantly. Sad for the defense. Paul Johnson's runnig game would be a lot more exciting...at least they'd keep the defense off the field.

Re: 10-3
Interesting points by all. By the way I have not lost "it", I know where "it" is at all times.
The general gist I get is, everyone here is more worried about next year than this year. That and the general disdain and hate for JJ means he will never make some of you happy. That was my point in asking the question. I wanted to see what you guys would think, it was not a prediction on my part. For several of you, we can go 10-3 or whatever we should go assuming winning out after TCU, and you still would not be happy at all. Interesting. I also find it interesting that we have to win in a certain style or manner for it to count. A win isn't a win anymore I guess. I'm waiting to see what happens in conference play before I write off the season. If that makes me a shunshiner, a JJ supporter, a lunatic, etc. The call me all the names in the world.
By the way, we will be terrible next year, but at least we will collect an actual paycheck to be bad. We've been bad for a long time and never got paid for it, now we will get to know how Baylor felt all those years before RGIII.

Re: 10-3
This team will do well in CUSA, get ready, but that shouldn't matter to anyone anymore. This is the most important and dynamic time in our history in terms of positioning and branding ourselves as an athletic program...
no one around the country gives a [deleted] what happens in CUSA play, and we shouldn't either at this point, as we are leaving next year. Here's the deal, we have huge TV contract negotiations coming up for our new conference, which is still very unstable.
perception is everything, time to act, look, feel, and for god's sake perform like a big boy. This has been a [deleted] poor display, and don't think any of us were not dumb enough to think we'd 3-0 or even 2-1 at this point.

Re: 10-3
I need to see a SERIOUS upswing in recruiting...that is what bothers me the most. We could go 10-3 this year (very unlikely), but fall on our faces in the BE because we haven't been building the recruiting classes to take over.
Very scary.

Re: 10-3
I will worry about next year after our bowl win this season. For that to happen, a young inexperienced O line has to vastly imporve. New receivers have to get their routes right. GG and Receivers have to improve timing (helps if they run the correct route by the way). the punting game has to get out of Death Valley and vastly improve.
Re: 10-3
I am willing to look at this like it is a rebuilding year. However with the way the recruiting class last year got screwed up because of the ASU deal and the way its looking now we are going to be rebuilding for a long time.

No guts....no glory.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
