Ticket Sales For TCU v. SMU Game

Post by ThisIsOurTime »

Saw on Stubhub that 720 tickets are currently available and had me wonder how the ticket sales were going for this game from the SMU ticket office? Is there a chance for a sellout? How did the A&M game turnout in terms of overall ticket sales? The box score for that game says 32,016 and the wiki page for SMU stadium says capacity is 32,000. Are these numbers correct? What is actually a sellout and how many SRO tickets are there? I was also looking back at the boxscore for the TCU game in 2010 and it says the attendance was 35,481. How do you folks see this one turning out in terms of attendance this year?

32,000 Seats
about 5,000 more can sit in grassy
A&M game had temporary bleachers for 4,000 more(which have been taken down)

You could probably have sold 41,000 for A&M but ticket prices of $90 probably held crowd down from the expected 40,000 predicted by SMU officials. Capacity probably max 37,000 for TCU. With SMU winning last year and TCU undefeated you would think SMU could beat 2010 numbers if SMU fans bother to show up. If we don' match at least 2010 then that's not a good sign considering our alleged huge increase in season ticket sales. Last game was on Friday Nite too wasn't it?

If you look at the Official SMU Ticket Office site it shows really only a handful of availiable SEATS (click on shaded sections) but sometimes they don't release all remaing seats-I guess to make it look like Hot Ticket

Sounds like the temporary bleachers got wasted. That stinks. Was the high price done to cover the cost of putting in the temporary bleachers?

As for the rest, I would think if there was a game this season that SMU fans would show up to, it would be this one. The only knock is that it looks like the 10 day forecast shows a 30% chance of rain on Saturday. However, that might not end up being such a bad thing if it makes the game cooler and the game itself avoids most of the rain. Hard to know what will happen with the weather 10 days out at this time of the year.

Yes the game is normally on Friday and ESPN but will be on Saturday this weekend and on Fox Sports from what I hear. Think that helps folks because Friday games conflict with high school sports and can make travel more of a challenge.

It was Friday night 2 yrs ago at Ford. Total nightmare traffic and overall a bad idea.
Afternoon game last year at Amon Carter.

only been on friday once from what i recall.

and a 30% chance of rain is not something you worry about if you've lived in texas for more than a week.

i think our base is pretty deflated with a couple of blow out losses - so i think we show ok but not great.

Thats why you dont schedule three mid to high's as out of conference. we have no business doing that.

That Friday night game from a few years ago will be hard to beat. SMU was on the upswing - people were excited about SMU. And obviously it was a huge year for TCU. Being on a Friday night was great b.c it didn't conflict with other college football games or other weekend activities.

I know you all like to talk about high school football conflicts on Friday night. But when I looked at the Kardashian-like SMU fans sitting around me, I doubt they would ever go to a high school football game. Friday night was huge and brought us a lot of fans.

Saturday games are tougher for SMU fans. Just too many conflicts.

First time in over a dozen years I won't go to this game. After the past few SMU performances, just not worth it.

Great to see Sterling Moore on TV right now. He was good in this game two years ago on Friday night.

Well, geez. Maybe we should just cancel the game then if your school doesn't care anymore? This is supposed to be a big rivalry game. Hard to justify playing this game from TCU's perspective if SMU can't even be bothered to show up? I hope this is just hyperbole over the losses as there is really no excuse for at least a similar showing to the number of SMU fans that were at the A&M game.

By the way Baylor is now ranked in the top 25 and after aTm dismantles Arky they could be as well. Wish those games had been closer.

They were scheduled long ago when SMU THOUGHT that June would make this team credible and competitive...it hasn't happened in his 5th year with all of his recruits. The point is SMU SHOULD be in the business of competing effectively with mid to highs at this point of the program.
And yes as a group we are deflated as fans...and we won't have as big a turnout as expected before the season...unfortunately.

This is probably a fair statement, and I know I for one had hoped for better this year, but nonetheless you can bet your [Fatterson] I'm going to be there with the wife, kid and a friend. Should be a fun time. Say what you want about the first three games, but this is one of those throw everything you know out the window games.

Phil Bennett was the coach when these games were scheduled. June Jones was not even in the picture.

Parents weekend at SMU should help our attendance a bit. Hope we pull off the upset!

Online ticket site appears to be down-strategic way to stop Frogs from purchasing tickets
