RB Jamaal Evans Irvingthe most prolific returning RB in Texas and perhaps the country who is coached by Bennett's brother does not appear to be considering SMU according to Rivals-or at least Evans didn't mention SMU when quoted.
Didn't the DMN report that he was moving to Mississippi or somesuch?
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

the Conspiracy Theorists continue. I really get a kick out of those that believe that Rivals is conspiring gainst schools when all they are doing is quoting a recruit word for word. Here is the quote:
"I'm still pretty high on four schools" Evans said. "Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, LSU and Mississippi State are my four right now" "The offenses they run feature running backs and the coaches have shown in the past that they aren't afraid to keep running it" He is quoted as saying he intends to make an early commitment. Based on the quotes from the young man neither SMU or its offense appear to be what he is looking for. Most of what some on this board consider a conspiracy against SMU is simply factual information from the recruits themselves. Of course I'm sure there is some 2A RB that we are focusing on instead rather than a kid with about 5,000 yards in his Sophmore and Junior seasons in a strong 5A conference coached by Phil Bennett's brother.
Have some thick skin! I don't recall anyone saying the coaches have a better RB in mind -- they're still just starting the evaluation process with a lot of guys, and I would assume there are many out there they haven't checked out yet. This guy, by all accounts, is really good. Would we like to see him at SMU? Yeah, I assume so. Are there other talented RBs out there? Yes. Which is the best? Who knows. Just because he's played for Jim Bennett doesn't mean we have first dibs on him, and I don't recall anyone saying we do. Being coached by Jim Bennett means nothing more than the fact that the SMU coaches have a pretty good scoutung report on him. And most reports suggest he's talented. The same was said about Marcus Mosley.
