WR's
Please just go ahead and bench Thompson and Holman. They are useless out there. I really haven't seen them do much of anything so far. Start Dieter, at least he can catch. He got one play, that is all. (Yes, one drop too), but he shows signs of being physical)
Must be infectious b/c Darius Johnson looks like a completely different player this year. Not sure what the deal is with him. Jeremy Johnson last year against TCU played great.
Bottom line - WR's get a D grade so far this year. (yes, I know it was a wet day, but they haven't shown me they can catch in wet or dry) - not too mention all the practice reports when they were dropping balls all summer.
Upgrade the talent June!

Re: WR's
yeah some of the drops were laughable tonight, wet ball or not. i think DJ is more comfortable being a follower in a receiver corp than the leader. He misses Beasley and Robinson a ton. Agree about Dieter, I like the way he plays, we need him out there.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Bench them and get younger guys use to it now. Scrap this season we will be lucky to become bowl eligible so we might as well treat this as experience practice. I know that sucks for seniors but at this point if you don't play we'll you don't play
Re: WR's
I believe the Baylor game that June used to break in Gilbert with the short pass put our receivers in a situation where they were being tee'd off on. Since then they appear to be hearing footsteps all the time. Are they running their routes wanting the ball or are they hoping not to be targeted?
Re: WR's
fully agree. June was overprotecting Gilbert at Baylor and the receivers got lit up. they had some serious alligator arms tonight.JonesDoe wrote:I believe the Baylor game that June used to break in Gilbert with the short pass put our receivers in a situation where they were being tee'd off on. Not an excuse, you act like men and you make the sacrifice for the betterment of your school, your fans etc. if you have complaints take them up during practice. If you don't like when someone gets over protected hit them during practice to start up an argument with the coach but you don't sabotage your team on game day that's in inexcusableHoop Fan wrote:fully agree. Re: WR's
not excusing anybody, but it is what it is right now. what i don't understand is why our receivers look like they have never been in the weight room. they aren't strong enough to get off the line, get separation, and they get bumped off their routes when the wind blows, not to mention not taking hits very well. i think they can all catch, they just aren't physical enough. thats where dieter helps.

Re: WR's
I guess you missed Dieter's early drop of a ball that hit him in the gut. Bad night all the way around last night for QBs and receivers. In miserable conditions like that, you really need more of a power running game which is just not part of the R&S

If they played like the Texans Arian Foster we would be happy!!!SMU_Alumni11 wrote:They are probably sissy vegetariansHoop Fan wrote:not excusing anybody, but it is what it is. what i don't understand is why our receivers look like they have never been in the weight room. they aren't strong enough to get off the line, get separation, and they get bumped off their routes when the wind blows, not to mention not taking hits very well. i think they can all catch, they just aren't physical enough. thats where dieter helps.

Can't do too much mandatory stuff due to NCAA regulations.
