Now That SMU Is Past All The BCS Teams We Will Be Fine
The CUSA teams are probably the worst in years. We should rain down havoc on our conference foes. UCF is the only really good team and they can not win the Championship. It is ours for the taking. I can't wait until our run starts this Saturday. Pony up.

Other teams are down in talent, new coaches etc. Time to win the crown in our last year here.

absolutely, let's be real happy if we manage to win a few games against garbage competition. This year cusa is probably worse than the southland conference and the MAC.
Those who would be happy beating D-II level competition need to find another school to root for. There is no reason that with a new coach who really cares about winning and good recruiting we can not be a top 30 team. NOT a bottom 85 team like we are now.

Not to sound pessimistic, and I know people are trying to find the little bit of positiveness out of this. Unless our defense is willing to play offense, we are going to suck. No amount of rearranging our offensive line will do any good til they can find people who can actually catch a football and ability to run and make space. I have to say that people looking forward to our competition against CrapUSA and forget OOC should also be saying decline/withdraw to being in the Big East. This season (and most likely the next two) we will become cellar dwellers in the Big East and Dallas will truly forget us and continue its love for TCU. Our only hope when it comes to Dallas is that TCU losses every game here on out and same for the Cowboys. That way if we somehow manage to only lose to UCF we can pull an 8-4 season. Thats the best we can hope for. Realisitically we should expect a 4-8 season with TCU being bowl eliligible and Cowboys getting to the playoffs. In short our marketing campaign was too little too late.

I believe the MAC, WAC (with Louisiana Tech), and the Sunbelt would all give CUSA a run this year. That's why I think the conference championship is ours for the taking.

In this moment and with our current situation the money were are spending on marketing is totally wasted. No amount of sales hype will bring people to watch a pathetic product and a coach who doesn't want to be here.
Re: Now That SMU Is Past All The BCS Teams We Will Be Fine
I would be shocked if we win 5 of our next CUSA games. Houston, Rice, UCF, and UTEP have all given us a hard time in the past.

86- love your optimism but the reality is that until we get an O that is at least semi-efficient we are going nowhere. Luckily we will end up 4-8. Forget the bowl this year- not gonna happen.

Sadly, I agree.
"We do what we do".
Well, maybe "we" should do something else.

A bowl will be the least of our worries. We'll get that. Our offense will look much better against low level talent like we are about to go up against. Sometimes it is best to be a big fish in a little pond. Watch as we destroy UTEP.

86- what did you put in your hot sauce? destroy UTEP in their house. I will be amazed if we win let alone destroy them. The only ones I think are realistically certain are: Tulane and Memphis. IMO Rice is better than we give them credit for and they always play us tough. Cougar high will probably beat us as will Tulsa, USM, and UCF.
Re: Now That SMU Is Past All The BCS Teams We Will Be Fine
Although UCF can't win it, they can put another loss on the record. Utep will be difficult. USM will be as we'll. UH always has athletes, and Tulsa will play hard. Could easily be another 4 losses. Think JJ is here after 5-7, and no bowl? Might not get a bowl by going 6-6 due to beating a FCS for 1 of the 6.

I am afraid the question is how well SMU would fair if all our remaining schedule were MAC. WAC, and Sunbelt teams to say nothing of the CUSA teams mentioned by several.
I hope I'm wrong.
