JJ's demeanor.

Post by Mustangsabu »

I have always found JJ's attitude almost too laid back, but I have to say it beats the bejaysus out of the hysteria dripping from this board.

Far too many people on here are missing the point. Support the team. It's the kids that are here that matter, not the kids that you would like to be here. This season is in the early stages. Lots of room for improvement but also lots of positives.

Just my two pence but I think a lot of people on here need to refocus on the kids.

I think that is a fair criticism. It's not like the AD scours this site for ideas on how to run the department. I think we need big changes but beating the horse here won't help, so I'll give it a rest.

Lots of positives? Like what? The board is justified, the kids have no heart or in the case of WRs hands. It's frustrating and eventually even the hardcore fan will settle for tv than to waste time for a coach who is collecting a paycheck, football players who signed up for the wrong spot probably basketball or soccer suit them better

Not that it will shorten your pitchfork, but the offensive line has protected GG far better than I expected, our D is excellent, and has seen major improvement since even the Baylor game, and you can see improvement in GG in every game. If you care to look, that is.

I don't expect most on this board to give up their vitriolic and pointless rants, but it is important to register that not all SMI fans feel the same way.

We are obviously struggling at certain positions.

But what I don't like is saying that the kids have no heart or they aren't trying. I haven't seen any evidence to indicate that players aren't putting in effort, on the field or at practice.

I also haven't seen evidence that coaches aren't coaching or have packed it in. I don't think it is right to make judgements about the amount of effort people are putting in unless you can actually point to specific incidents.

Talking about bad calls, poor fundamentals, or making comments that we have a gap in talent at certain positions... fine, that is on the coaching staff, obviously, because they decide who is brought in.

But accusing people of being lazy or not trying, I just think it is slanderous without any evidence to corroborate the statement.

Obviously my statement is not towards the D my red and blue blooded heart goes out to their valiant effort to fight even when there is no chance of victory. My comment is directed mainly at the WRs because I know some of them can run faster than they are showing, and definitely can catch better than what you and I have to witness. There is no doubt the coaching staff gets the majority of that statement but it indicates to me that the WRs either forgot how to play football or sabotaging GG either way is inexcusable. The o-line has done tremendous job given their inexperience and will be awesome in the future hopefully won't follow our WRs path. GG I feel bad for because he can't win, his WRs won't catch and he obviously can't always scramble out of there every time

All good points. However, I feel the coaches (excepting the D coaches) and many of the players have packed it in just like they did after the UCF game last year. NO fire, hustle or enthusiasm. I blame a lot of it on the coaches.

We pretty much know that jj packed it in after he was unhappy about attendance last season.. I just have to wonder if he is now doing the same thing since he has seen no activity on his IPF and some of the other things he was promised.
Really doesn't matter- after the end of this season there is no longer a buyout and we can only hope that those in control will make the right decision and send jj on his merry way. If not there will be lots and lots of empty seats in Ford next year.
We peons don't have the mega-bucks of the CofC but we are the ones buying tickets. We must speak with our purchasing power and demand the changes necessary or refuse to support the program next year. JMHO

Lay off the kids. They are our students, not pros. Dismissing them categorically is not cool.

It's just the same 17 bellyachers throwing their signature hissy fit - like they always do when things don't go their way. Three battles lost but the war is not over. We've got 8 more chances to win 5. See you at the Sun Bowl. Pony Up!

I agree with the lay off the kids. They're doing the best they can.

The only true "victory" still in sight is a potential Conference USA championship. Nobody on this board expected us to be 3-1 or 4-0 coming out of non-conference but it is they way our offense ineptitude has basically made us non-competative in all four of those games that is upsetting. The defense totally bailed us out against SFA but before we annoint them remember, before that clunker against TCU, they'd given up +600 total offense twice and had never held an opponent under 350 passing yards. They do show tremendous heart and effort compared to our offense but it's not like our red-zone D should have anyone feeling cozy about going into CUSA.

And Baylor showed the world they could run and gun with the best of them. 63 points last week against WVU.

And what's A&M doing, points wise? I mean seriously folks. We lost to some very, very good teams in Baylor and A&M and took a #15 team in TCU to the wire.

BTW, Sagarin's got A&M at #6 and Baylor at #23.

Let's give this thing a little time, for the love of all that is holy.
