Re: SMU v UTEP Stat Comparison
This Nathan Jeffery kid at RB has had 2 great games against Oklahoma and ECU and hurt in others. But played last week. Nick Lamison was only 9 for 27 against ECU and 6 for 23 against OU-stats were decent in other games. Those stats jump out at me. I haven't seen UTEP play yet except a few playsagainst OU and Wisconsin.

I watched almost all of both those games. The RB is very good, and is finally to be back near 100% this week. The QB is a Senior transfer kid who has played alot of games, but they like to give it to the RB alot.
Defensive plan has to be to stop the RB and see if that QB can beat us. Our LBs can't over run things this week, stay in correct position, and make some plays.

Rattle the QB and stop the run. SMU has the capability of doing that. Its the gunslingers that might get us in trouble. I know Lamison ocassionally has put up good numbers-but these days most CUSA QBs do.

Re: SMU v UTEP Stat Comparison
We are in trouble. I watched UTEP play Wisconsin and was surprised how well they moved the ball against the Badgers. UTEP is obviously very well coached with Mike Price.
Someone said this earlier, but their RB is really good.
It will come down to our ability to score points, because as good as our defense is playing, UTEP will score some. I am guessing we need to score 28 points to win. I have no confidence that will happen.

You are right on the RB. Once he came out of the OU game they were toast. We must stop him, which I think plays into our strength.

Didn't Davis knock Lamaison out of the game last season?

Re: SMU v UTEP Stat Comparison
It is important to try to right the ship and for the offense to get in thythm and get some confidence. Although not a must win it would be a big step toward getting the 6 wins and a bowl berth what with Central Florida and Tulsa looking tough and Southern Miss not far behind and then there is Houston and a much-improved Rice on the road. If I hear June say one more time that "we will try to steal one on the road" I will........

No. Must win. Year five. Get it done.
