Do JJ and Hart both think that SMU ratings in top 25 will go up and fan attendance, if we play cupcakes? They have to be out of their f-ing minds. I'm not going to renew season tickets if we play cupcakes rather than Baylor tcu and tech... The breaking point for me is if TCU is our only competition. If they love seeing empty stands than by all means schedule cupcakes

We agree on this point.SMU_Alumni11 wrote:Do JJ and Hart both think that SMU ratings in top 25 will go up and fan attendance, if we play cupcakes? They have to be out of their f-ing minds. I wish, but the last ten years of discussions and fund raising have not made it happen. This lack of investment has been [deleted] our Men and Women who train and compete in a facility which is old (decrepit), small (even compared to a high school) and uncompetive (Swimming & Diving for both teams, who need adequate training facilities, much less hosting swim meets, plus for recruiting purposes).Rebel10 wrote:Well Water Pony looks like you are getting your nat according to the Hart interview.
As most know, our tradition of being nationally competitive and ranked has been eroding over time. Despite some limited success, the time has come to make it happen, especially now with our move to BE.
I accept your guarded optimism and hope there is some truth in his "intention".

WP- I hope the planning is real as well. I have no connection with swimming other than I used to go to some of the swimming meets and watch Red Barr's teams walk away with all the awards. At that time we were always perennial champions and one of the top teams in the country. Sad to see how our past admins have ignored so many top programs at SMU.

I echo what Redpony said. I was there when our swim team was the finest. So was out basketball and football. We even had a baseball team LOL.
Long live Inez Perez!

Yeah have to agree Nat needs to be built it was one of the few buildings that I was like... This isn't SMU... Glad to see the other sports getting help. Out of my own selfishness I am praying for secret plans to play baseball in 2015 haha

I have not listened to the interview yet, but I did talk to Hart and specifically asked about a new Nat. He said exactly what has been said all along...."We need that lead donor."Water Pony wrote:I wish, but the last ten years of discussions and fund raising have not made it happen.
