Re: TCU Fans Getting Called Out
It's easier to recruit off a Rose Bowl win than a 6-6 season. We'll see.SMU2007 wrote:So they are essentially on par with Oklahoma State and are ahead of every team on that list besides Texas Tech. So just looking at this, their recruiting is top half of big 12, and in line with everyone except UT/OU. They'll be competitive.

Indeed they have. But let's see if they're better than a middle of the pack Big 12 team.

How are we going to do that since we are not in the Big 12?ponyboy wrote:Indeed they have. But let's see if they're better than a middle of the pack Big 12 team.

Even TCU at the height of their popularity has problems filling a stadium when they have an opponent no one cares about and that doesn't bring fans with them. All small schools will have that problem. I am sure Baylor had the same problems until they got good. Unless small schools play traditional rivals, attendance is a problem. So no more [deleted] and no more brown nosing TCU from the critics on PFs.
TCU did pretty well in attendance in the MWC. But they did not have the public drug issues uncovered as they do now.

Has that affected anything at all? I really doubt it

Despite worse recruiting, Iowa State won at TCU last weekend.
Horned Frogs drew well in their first couple games with Grambling and UVa.

Re: TCU Fans Getting Called Out
Worse recruiting plus 20+ TCU defections, injuries and suspensions over last year not due to graduation. Actually TCU's recruited was outstanding and they were loaded this year even to quality Big 12 levels. With those players TCU likely wipes the floor with Iowa St. Should be pretty much expected. As I mentioned on Rivals when TCU was ranked No. 15 in the Country TCU is a Paper Tiger this year likely to have a collapse reminicent of 1985 when SMU was being touted as National Contender but finished 6-5 due to the effect of multiple years of recruiting restrictions. Its a numbers/depth thing. The effects of USC and Penn St probations also will affect those schools more in years 3-5 than they do in years 1-2.

New Stadium:
SMU: 10,000 season tickets
TCU: sold out their entire season ticket alottment of a 45,000 seat stadium minus students/visitor alottment. The only seats not SOLD were in the far upper reaches of the upper deck which obviously were the visiting team alottment.

TCU was on Fall Break. Half the students were back home. I was at the game, still a pretty decent showing.

Also I don't know who said the upper deck was almost empty. It was at least half full for the first half, but emptied out somewhat after halftime.
