K-UNT 88.1 FMMean green Gem - i must concede that UNT has one good thing.
K-UNT - it great its the best radio station in dallas
For you 'old-timers' who remember the great radio magnate Gordon McClendon ('The Old Scotsman') who owned KLIF-AM here in Dallas in the 50s and 60s, he also owned a station in Houston. The original call letters were supposed to be KLIT-AM. He immediately had it changed to KILT-AM and it became the 'flagship' station for his chain of radio operations throughout the Southwest.
Re: K-UNT 88.1 FM
Best Radio in dallas........funny I always thought K-UNT stunk......
Re:
They did this schtick on The Ticket awhile back. It NEVER was [deleted], the call letters have always been KNTU C'mon they're not that stupid
I know a lot of UNT people - and a few who work at the station - and I can say that they are all K-UNTs. K-UNTs are the best thing about UNT.
I can no longer say that UNT sucks "en total", but rather that the K-UNTs at UNT don't suck; Everything else does...
Re:
Hmmm.... I'm pretty sure if you watch Necessary Roughness, filmed at UNT you'll see an add for the station K-UNT in the background at the stadium.

Hmmm.... I'm pretty sure if you watch Necessary Roughness, filmed at UNT you'll see an add for the station K-UNT in the background at the stadium.[/quote] Greatest film of all time. Scott bakula in a Feed and Seed hat coming back for second chance at football glory...and love. Kathy Ireland was still hot - as the inconvievable female place kicker. The father of an SMUkid was a producer of that movie.
Here's a list of the executive producer, producers and associate producer.
Exec. Producer Howard W. Koch Jr. Producer Mace Neufeld Robert Rehme Assoc. Producer Lis Kern Any idea who the parent of the SMU kid might be?
Don't know who the parent of the kid was. But I do know that the pivotal role of Popke, Bakula's hapless backup QB ("Send in the signs, Popke!!!!") was played by Drew Kahn, a Meadows grad. How this nuanced, stalwart turn was overlooked by the Academy is anyone's guess.

and you'd be wrong

K-UNT is great! And on that subject--even Mustangs and Mean Greeners are unified! ![]() Still waiting on a higher tower on a higher hill so those of us in the West-O-Plex can pick up the station better at night, though. For a 100,000 killowatt (sp?) station, one would think that would not be a problem. But you like jazz/rock? Then go to your neighborhood WalMart and get Toto's 25'th Anniversary DVD concert "live" from Amsterdam. Now that is jazz and rock fused together the way it was mean't to be. If they don't have it in stock--they will order it for you. One of Toto's infamous Porcaro brothers used to be in production at The Ticket and helped produce Jub-Jub's MGRN football and basketball, too. That Porcaro is in a group that I think they call Steele. (Sorta' slow time of year for college smack boards, eh)? ![]() It's over and I'm out.....
