You guys do know that Rich Phillips is employed by SMU as the play-by-play guy, right? If you want to keep your job, you don't ask questions of your coach -- your co-worker -- that add embarrassment after a loss, regardless of the opponent. He actually did a good job considering the game he had just watched, and frankly, what JJ said was about as good as anyone could expect from a coach after such a disappointing loss. There's no way to spin that positively, but Rich did a relatively solid job with that post-game Q&A dance.

question was eventually asked...and I'm satisfied with the answer. Tough call that could have gone either way but at that moment of the game, I would have gone for it

For all the crap Rich took from Doherty over the years, he should have cart blanche to ask whatever he wants.
