Re: Okay, I'll bite
There is a reason Aaron Davis has not been backing up Pitman, he is backing up at DE. To borrow one of Stallions many ego lines...(i can't believe nobody hasn't noticed this), but Zack Wood is out with a minor injury, so Davis has taken his spot.

Exactly. Someone mentioned the first down pass at the end of the game. Now, that was a really bad play call, no doubt about it.Stallion wrote:Is anybody going to bring up the incredible mistakes the OLM made in short yardage? Get blown up at the 1, false start at the 1 and another holding or something all close to the endzone. Geez they cost us as many points as anyone
But we didn't lose this game because our coach called bad plays. We lost the game because we MADE bad plays.
We let a team go 70 yards with no timeouts in under a minute. Against a bad team.
Let that sink in. That is the reason why we lost the game, not because June didn't go for it here or called a pass play there. Unfortunately, the only difference that crappy play call made is that it gave us the ball with 36 seconds left instead of 10.
We lost this game because our players didn't make plays on the last defensive drive, and our OL screwed up several times inside the 10. Period. And yes, I realize that Tulane sucks, and it shouldn't have come to that, but when you make mistakes like that over and over again, it is gonna be really tough to win a game.

So the players are not coached properly, and they lack discipline. I'm letting that sink in.JasonB wrote:Exactly. Someone mentioned the first down pass at the end of the game. The OL was not good today. Even I could see that.Rebel10 wrote:OL is playing fine Zach got 160 yards and by other accounts should have gotten the ball on the 1 yard on 4th down. You could see this happening a mile away with the recruiting of skilled position players. Sounds like a bunch of rhetorical mess to me but one thing you are saying is that YOU are not wanting JJ gone this year.

Mustangabu and Jason, I don't know what to say. That both of you say what you do is so...sad, pathetic, unenlightened, Pollyanna, naive, ...
God bless though for loving our Mustangs.
If we had more of you, for longer, we would have been competing with SW Dakota state teachers college for decades. Aim low boys. Easier to reach your goals.

If there were more people like me, the atmosphere at SMU games would be a lot better.

I haven't been to a practice or spoken with the coaches. Has CP dropped down to number 3 on the depth chart? Is thIs the reason for GG's extra long rope? They want to preserve Birchum's red shirt year? The backup QB is always the most popular on any roster. There have been a ton of calls for CP, but if he is not getting any reps it really makes me think that the staff doesn't think he is the future. He will be an emergency spot sub when needed for this season, but will go into the Spring as the number 3 QB. It doesn't make sense to withhold practice reps otherwise. Anyone know for sure?JasonB wrote:
4) CP - Great kid. Better regarded recruit than the other three, so a step up. But remember, he was not a 5 star guy, he is a 3 star guy. 5 star guys can come in as a redshirt frosh and play and star. 3 star and 4 star guys typically take a little while to come along. We would have been in trouble if he had to play based on the spring performances, but he really progressed as the team moved through fall practice. He knows the offense really well. But, keep in mind that part of the reason he has not come in is because he is not getting reps in practice. Instead, those reps are going to...

This is PonyFans, no one knows anything for sure except whose fault it is.stc9 wrote:I haven't been to a practice or spoken with the coaches. Has CP dropped down to number 3 on the depth chart? Abu, I finally see the picture with you. I agree. I appreciate your love and commitment. Thank you much for both.

Re: Okay, I'll bite
JasonB: I actually agree with some of what you say, and anyone who was looking at this season objectively knew that another 7-5 finish would be an impressive result given the tougher schedule and huge concerns we had about the OL.
We can all agree the OL limits this team, but what makes you think it will be better next year? From where I sit, we lose Collins, Free and junk and replace them with ???

Re: Okay, I'll bite
OK, I will bite. JasonB made a brave attempt to provide an alternative view of our situation/crisis. Chicken Little can make the easy calls, but at least we have a poster/fan who offers other views. I get nervous when everyone says the same thing and other views are called nuts. I am not saying he is right, but tempering the shouts is not a bad thing. At my age, nothing is ever black and white.

Re: Okay, I'll bite
Bottom line is we had more talent than Tulane at all positions. SMU should have won the game. No matter how the June to the death supporters try to put the blame on coaches that are not here the fact is the blame should go to the coaches that are here.

The good coaches adjust their offense to the talent that they have. Spurrier runs the ball now.
