I'm not exactly sure but, I think Tressel is banned from coaching for several more years and , seriously, do you really want a guy who was found GUILTY of committing numerous NCAA violations ?
What do you have against Petrino? I promise you, he will be coaching Auburn before the season is over if somebody else doesn't get him first. He is an offensive genius. Just sayin.

Petrino has a horrible reputation for always looking your shoulder for a better opportunity. Ok, one of his reputations. He would be here one year two if we are lucky before he moves to a better job. At louisvile he had the June Jones syndrome, was always looking for a better deal each year. He would turn this program around in one year, no doubt.

And on a side note, if he sends the geldings to the glue factory I'll dance at his next wedding!
Good post. Sonny Dykes would be my first choice.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four 2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

unfortunately that's probably what will happen with almost anyone that comes to SMU and has us rocking in the Top 25. Fatterson has stuck around at TCU, but he's probably the exception to the rule. We've only had one coach since the 1940's stay more than 6 or 7 years...right?

Thanks. Tressel would be huge and I wouldn't be against him at all but, IMHO, he would always have a "cloud" over him. He's tainted in my view.
Agreed. He is gone at the end of the season. If they lose to Baylor they may make the announcement as soon as they have someone firmly lined up to take his place.
Does Mac Brown have anything left to offer? I think our program would be in greater need of a young up and comer who's hungry to make a name for himself than and older has-been who has little reason to bust his [deleted] for SMU.

KIRBY SMART! He's young, and has all the assets for recruiting QUALITY talent. He has the fire and drive that we need, and I believe that we could get him at a fair price. If not Smart then I'm all for Dykes as well, even though he has a completely different coaching model than Smart.

Exactly. We can expect this season to be an indication of what to expect next two years. That's why we need this new and upcoming coach now. Throw him in with at least a hard working decent team. Hell put mason as HC and get a OC. I think mason deserves an opportunity since he knows how to utilize what's he got an make them badasses even in face of competition
