I have heard him say that during the first 4 games in more than one interview. Well it is now 6 games into the season and it seems SMU is no better than it was the first week. Some JJ to the death supporters can try to blame the players all they want but the talent in CUSA is not much different than SMU's from top to bottom. It is mostly coaching now. As seem in the LA Tech that a good coach can get his team to play well against a more talented team. Now that we area in CUSA games coach Jones and his entire staff need to show that they can out coach the other team because mostly all the team in CUSA are sucking air. If he can't coach in a weak CUSA then Butch Jones, Charlie Strong, Chris Peterson, and Kyle Flood will destroy him in the Big East.

I will say this, there was probably several post DP teams that Rossley, Cavan, and probably some Bennett had who could beat this SMU team, even with all their recruiting restrictions. Not because of the defense, but the offense is that bad right now this year.
