Scout, who is by most accounts a better basketball rating service has him a 4 STAR and the 76th ranked player in the country, so its a 4 star as far as we are concerned.
Ponyscott is spot on. Also, other outlets have him as a 4 star as well.

Congrats indeed!
Hopefully this starts the momentum. Maybe we can land one more absolute stud (5 star?).
Is LB talking to RSJ?!? Let's get him!

Basketball is going the right direction. Thank you Larry Brown. It is going to be an interesting year. The immediate versus the future. We now are seeing the future.

LB and his staff just show what can be done when you want to actively recruit top level players. Somebody should send this message to the fball lazies who only want to look at tapes sent to them..

berg and p-boy. Simple question- are you really happy with the quality of recruiting that jj does? and do you really think we are going to be at the top of the BE with our current recruiting class? or are you just happy to be very mediocre at best?

I can't speak for the others, but when I look at JJ's recruiting that has produced the likes of Line (x2?), JG, Reed, Pittman, Acker, JR Richardson, Sanders, etc., and then look at some of the younger guys in waiting (OLs Rice, Briggs, Myers and Chamagua, LBs Richard, Pruitt, Neroes, etc., DBs Randolph, Justice, etc.), then yes, there is some very promising talent there. I don't know if we'll be at the top, but I expect us to compete, and that brings with it a chance to be at the top.

Do we have this same old JJ to the death supporter argument again. I guess I will have to add this SMUfan shill to the JJ to the death supporter list. You just mentioned 6 players that have proven themselves on the field and 3 of which the coaches that recruited them are not even here anymore. 6 players in 5 years that have been good. That is only about 1 per year. How many diamonds in the rough have turned out not good? Alot more that 5. In fact June has lost better players that he recruited which means the previous coach out recruited him including the best wr's SMU had and last year's entire offensive line. Have you seen Rice, Briggs and all those others play also? Not in real games so all that is just potential like all other 100 and somethings D1A teams have on the bench waiting to play next year. Promising talent is synonymous with that french word "potential." Not that they will not do anything but it means you hadn't nothing yet.

Yeah, those are players you can compete with in CUSA, those players will lose consistently in the Big East.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Bergermeister, JJ DOESN'T get it. That is why he is losing credibility.

Back to topic : Basketball: Bolingbrook’s Ben Moore commits to SMU By Joe Henricksen For Sun-Times Media October 17, 2012 1:32PM View Gallery Updated: October 18, 2012 6:13AM There haven’t been many recruitments like the one Bolingbrook’s Ben Moore just went through. The wild ride ended Tuesday with a commitment to coach Larry Brown and SMU. Moore’s commitment marks the second Chicago-area product the Mustangs have secured in the last week. Moore will join Proviso East senior Sterling Brown in Dallas next year. Brown committed Sunday to SMU. “I really wanted to stick with those who believed in me and my ability from the very beginning,†Moore said. “SMU and coach Brown believed in me. This coaching staff was great. I feel like I will definitely get better as a player there and quickly. I like the direction the team is going in, and I like the fact they are moving to the Big East. I want to play against that type of competition.†Larry Brown, a coaching icon who has won NCAA and NBA titles, became fixated with Moore while watching the long, lanky forward during the July evaluation period. Brown, along with assistant Jerrance Howard, made Moore a priority over the past three-plus months. While watching Moore in July, Brown was enamored with his motor, length and upside.... http://heraldnews.suntimes.com/sports/1 ... o-smu.html
