I think we have a chance to compete for the CUSA title. I definitely think we should FINALLY Win a CUSA tournament game. There's decent talent on the team, not Big East talent, but enough to compete in CUSA. Take away the Princeton, add a legit coach, and I think our team could surprise some folks next year.
Pump the brakes a little. No way we are close to competing for a title. Best case is we upset someone first round of the tournament. Rebounds will be hard to come by this year.

By the way, Rivals is reporting that Moore indeed did get an Illinois offer on 10/12.

I don't think anyone said he did not an offer from Illinois. He also had offers from other power conference basketball schools as well. Looking for to him coming to the Hilltop.

I agree rebounds will be tough this year IMO. Yahoo Sports has SMU picked second to last which could very well happen this year. I am setting no expectations on the basketball team for 2 years and by then LB should have the players he needs.

The coaches' picks hold a lot more credibility than anything Yahoo rolls out.

The perception that I have of this staff is that they are becoming a close knit group, which can only be a good thing.

Admittedly, I haven't followed SMU hoops for awhile before about 3-4 months ago. But why will we be so bad this year? I thought we had some good recruits like Jalen James and even Shawn Williams. Is it our size? Lack of depth? Who in CUSA is any good besides Memphis (and maybe UH)? I always thought Matt Doherty was kind of a loser but a decent recruiter. I would think the massive upgrade in coaching alone will get us to .500 at least. No?

That is PonyPlayer4's quote not mine.

So what do the coaches' picks say?

There's talent already for Larry Brown to play with. All I'm saying is if Blaise is eligible this year, there's no way this team coached under Larry Brown, and not running the Princeton, will finish near 2nd to last. Maybe it's ambitious right now to say they will compete for the CUSA title, but I expect them to be at least in the top half if all our players remain eligible.

I think LB is sand bagging a bit when he talks this year. It sounds to me that he wants to have expectations for this season very low. Just my opinion.

I hate it when people take shots at the B1G... It's a different style of play and I actually enjoy watching it.
