60.5% completion for GG

Post by PonyPlayer4 »

For me this is the most important stat of the night. I know he made a couple suspect throws, but he played his best game of the year. 60.5% with a couple drops mixed in. I know it's not fantastic, but I would take this from him the rest of the year.

there were some very nice catches made - that was nice to see. DJ made several great grabs. That certainly helped.

More importantly he was hitting receivers in stride. Does anyone know the YAC stats. For the first time this season receivers could move the ball up the field instead of stopping or reaching back for the ball.

It just takes a while to learn this offense. He's starting to get it. And we've got him the rest of this year and next.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

One interception was a fluke. The other JJ had complete abandoned the run game (empty backfield) so UH knew pass was coming. The guy sat on the route and made GG pay. Had we had the threat of a run game (as in the next 75 yard drive) I doubt that guy plays it as an pass all the way.

GG made better read all in all (not perfect as may expect). THe O line was improved (though I didn't feel the UH D line was all that athletic). Biggest improvement there was ability of the O Lineman to get to the backers and make a block. That wasn't happening early in the season.

We "owe a game ball" to Reed for his helmet under the chin of Piland. OK maybe not since it wasn't a clean hit (two years ago it would have ben but not now). Huge hit that put their key offensive player out f the game.

This was the most fun game of the year for me. We played very hard in all three components of the game.

Reed was a star in this one. I kind of question whether or not it actually was a penalty but at least it was one of hustle and hard play. He played as good of a game as I have seen a middle backer play since I watched my old game films.

I'm still confused how some of our WRs can cut there routes short, on that long pass in the first half that was over thrown the WR cut his route short and shallow when the post was his route and wide open. Garret threw it to the post but there was no way the WR could get there

I thought I heard someone mention the announcers called it a clean hit on Piland.

This was done against a very average defense. It has taken 7 games and finally GG has a decent game. Wonder if it would have taken Preston that long to have a good game. I doubt it.

Gilbert is better than Preston. He's getting better every game. And if we switch over to Preston we will have to endure 'the learning period' with CP as well.

I thought the WR was bumped and almost fell down on that play...

Need to get up to 65% and less mistakes, but it looked much better!

GG is better than Preston in practice[not always a perfect judge of how well someone performs during games] so we don't know how Preston would do though he did well in his limited time. Also Preston has been in this system for a year and a half now and should know the system better than GG.
