SMU JumboTron Heard in Oklahoma Last Night

For anyone else who attended Thursday night's game: are your ears ringing today, too? That JumboTron audio system just plain sucked last night. So loud it was ridiculous.

And if I want to watch commercials, I'll stay home and watch the game on TV.

Also, the JumboTron operator kept playing that rock n' roll/rap crap over the top of the Mustang Band, even during the Mustangs' team entrance! Are you kidding me? Ridiculous. I sent a Tweet to AD Rick Hart and SMU Athletics about it and the reply was: "Music drops out when the band starts...Just need to fill while band gets ready to play..." WTH? It's a friggin' FOOTBALL game, not a TV or radio broadcast where you're not supposed to have 'dead air'! And the music didn't 'drop out'...it just kept going on and on and on....even during a crucial play when UofH had the ball and SMU had to stop 'em!

Last night was great! We need a bigger band for sure, but our little band kicked the crap out of the big band U of H hauled up to Dallas. The game music was fun and covered up that obnoxious horn sound Cougar High played on kickoffs. I enjoyed Sandstorm being played as well and I'm nearly 50! For all of you out of towers you missed a fun one!

i get the band's role, but why do they have to be the only source of music during the game?

I agree, it is much better this year. Always room for improvement, but the only real screw up I noticed last night was them playing the helemt shuffle game when UH was running a 3rd down play.
