I'm not sure. I do know that A&M, UT (obviously), Baylor, and TCU sent him offers though. And didn't Arkansas and Purdue have interest in him and we beat them out? There's more here than just Shead deciding out of nowhere that SMU was where he wanted to go.
Didn't Skip Bayless say something about recruits like "They just wake up and say 'I think I'll go to SMU'"

"Lake Travis' WR is on the team (name?).

Like to see a pipeline to these two schools if not for stars, then depth..

Lake Travis QB: Baker Mayfield/ 1987 yds/ 20 TDs.

Westlake QB Jordan Severt: 6'3/ 1314 yds/ 16 TDs.

Westlake with a very good kicker.

Westlake ex LB Bryce Hagar starting for Baylor, QBTanner Price at Wake Forest, WR Swopes at A&M.."

I saw Severt play this season and was impressed with his running abilities, however throwing wise I felt that he wasn't quite as good compared to what I saw when Nick Foles and Tanner Price were QBing for Westlake. I do think that his decision making is good though.
