Re: Cedric Lancaster: New Commit
Let the bashing begin (no stars, only one other offer), but I like this commit. Good program and I like us getting Houston guys. ("dominate Houston" - Ron Meyer).
Welcome, Cedric!

Good program. I like him. Height is the issue but from all reports he can really play.

That was fast (think he got offered yesterday). If that 4.4 speed is legit he could become a nice returner for us.

Re: Cedric Lancaster: New Commit
Article says JJ would also like to use him in the slot. 4.4 speed in the slot can be a huge asset.
Just send 'da money.

Re: Cedric Lancaster: New Commit
how about we keep the corner as a corner, keep a shut down guy out there and actually recruit some recievers for the slots?

Is Lancaster an actual shutdown guy? If he isn't that 4.4 speed would be better used in the slot to stretch the field rather than chasing around taller receivers.

He excelled at corner and did not play wr as much as corner.

This is a Phillips guy, so that may be why there is speculation around moving him to the slot.

Also, that height is not such an issue for a slot wr. And the speed is a big asset.

Lamar high school? Hmmm, I'm going to have to check him out. I can see Lamar high school right out of my office.
Re: Cedric Lancaster: New Commit
Forget the lack of a rating, that will come. His commitment alone is already bearing fruit in getting Minor.

Re: Cedric Lancaster: New Commit
So except for the RB and the TE under our recruitment, what's so special about the new recruits we have gotten? Not try to sound pessimistic but more of a skeptic since I know a lot of them for have offers anywhere above SMU. Any details to why things look more up than down when it comes to recruitment? My only hope every year is that a whole line of gems will pop out that will carry us to the BE but every year I become that less in the faith of JJs gems in the rough strategy. Sometimes I wonder if he just closes his eyes and guesses where to send the letter...

Ask June, I'm sure all the recruits remind him of some NFL player he coached forever ago.

Or maybe even some NFL players he's coached while here at SMU.
