I know Mason told a recruit (Tatum Taylor I think) that we were getting a track team but it was not going to be next year I don't think. But SMU needs one soon because SMU is about to lose Paul if the SMU staff can't convince him IMO since he want to run track as well as play football.

No, not track team. I say that because I think when he committed it was pretty soft. I can't remember the details, but I thought he said something like "and I'm still looking at other programs/hoping for more offers" or something like that.

Picked up an oklahoma state offer. and his smu recruiter is bert hill. hmmm. i'd be stressing the education he'd be getting here and his chance to see the field soon and early (would he ever realistically start at OK state?).

He was always going to bail when he got some offers from track schools. The only reason he committed to us at the time because we were his only offer.

Good news: I was told by a authoritative figure in the athletic department that we would have a men's track team within 2 years.

Bad news: I was told that over 10 years ago.

Rivals says Bert Hill which I found odd. It would make sense if it were Jason Phillips and I'd feel better about us keeping him.

I believe Hill recruited him then handed him off to his position coach which is JP to continue recruiting him once he committed.

So what's the cost of adding a men's track team? Can't be that big of a deal considering you allready have a women's team. Is there a title 9 cost?

if they add men's track, they'll have to add another women's team (aside from women's track, which already exists), correct? or is it just total number of scholarships have to be equal?

I guess if you add men's scholarships, you would have to match with women. However, if the player was allready on scholarship to play football, there would be no need for money to add a women's scholarship.
