Shooting on Central Expwy. at Mockingbird

Postby MrMustang1965 » Thu Mar 17, 2005 2:37 am

The shooting that took place on the Central Expwy. service road near Mockingbird Lane is a tragic incident. It appears that it carried over from Jack's Pub where the suspect and the eventual victims were involved in some type of disagreement there. My sympathies are with the families of the victims. The incident itself is very disturbing, no doubt. And it's really [deleted] me off that practically EVERY news report, in print or broadcast, says "near the S.M.U. campus". There's no connection between the school and what happened and the location of Central Expwy. at Mockingbird is good enough. Unfortunately, this story is being picked up by the wire services and going all over the country with S.M.U.'s name attached to it. I don't like that one bit!

Given the pieces of the reports I saw I would wager it was gang related. So are the Phis and the Fijis at it again?

It's all Copeland's fault. He fired Rossley, hired Cavan who started Chris Sanders over Ramon Flanagin!

Wear Cammies

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Mar 17, 2005 10:10 am

Maybe the SMU team should wear camouflage fatigues like the Jimmy Johnson Miami team did, and flash gang signals to our opponents to let the CUSA know they plan to play tough. Might as well take advantage of the reputation the paper gave us.

Ugh. I hated Cavan.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You're wrong Plano Stang. It's not Copeland's fault. It's the dead Ken Pye's fault.

Dr. Pye will live forever as the creator of a recruiting and admissions program that gave SMU it's second death penalty.
Just send 'da money.

re: media linking Central/Mockingbird shooting to SMU

I wonder if President Turner has made calls demanding the media stop this ridiculous smear job on SMU?

I am sure some orange blood at the "Dallas Morning Austin Statesmen" is behind this crap!

When you read the headlines, it makes it seem as if SMU students were involved. By the way..........how bout' that HUGE brawl on Padre with tons of ut students fighting?

re:how bout' that HUGE brawl on Padre with tons of ut students fighting?

yep the "Dallas Morning Austin Statesmen" isn't
nearly as eager to headline
the Padre Spring Break melee
as an event involving "UT students"
like they try to disgracefully link SMU
to the Mock/Central shooting.

KFLY/ Channel 10 - March 16, 2005
Texas Students Riot at Spring Break

Spring breakers in South Padre Island, Florida headed to the
beach for some fun in the sun, but Tuesday teens got a
little bit more than they expected.

A beach brawl broke out on the beach allegedly between Oklahoma
and University of Texas students.

Looks like the Red River Shootout took place earlier this year and not during football season.

Banged up students say people were fighting,
cracking bottles over heads and some were even hit with shovels.

At least ten people were reported injured, with non-threatening injuries.

But the beach was trashed, littered with broken bottles and beer cans.

Police said no arrests have been made because they don't
know who started the fight. They are asking for anyone
who may have gotten the beach brawl on tape to come forward.

What was the name of the longhorn post player, that used a girl's face for a punching bag? If that would have my daughter................he would be sleeping with the fishes!!!!! A 6'9 250lb athlete pounding a girl, doesn't seem like a fair match to me.
