Need to get that track team soon

Good news: I was told by a authoritative figure in the athletic department that we would have a men's track team within 2 years.

Bad news: I was told that over 10 years ago.

myrdel, we DID have a men's track team 10 years ago. It was canned in 2004!

Then my old brain is just off by a couple of years. Might have been 6 or 7 years ago when I was told. Give me a pass on being old and senile in my recollections of times gone by. I do not recall us having a men's track team in 2004 but I will give ESPN the benefit of the doubt.

SMU needs to go all out. I want very strong athletics programs. I hope the men's team gets started soon and the weak women's team needs to be upgraded.
Texas A&M has a NC caliber athletics programs the last few years and one of their girls nearly made the USA Olympic team this year in the 10,000m. A very exciting runner.
I want SMU athletics to become NC contender level.

As a member of the last men's cross-country team at SMU I can tell you that 2003-04 was the last season of men's track.
