Have you been to Clemson? There is nothing to do on Saturdays except for football..Charleston Pony wrote:TidePony wrote:The Bama game was nice, except about 20,000 (and I mean 20,000) students left the game just prior to halftime. I wouldn't be surprised if Saban doesn't robo-call and chew on them. By the way, students at Bama are no different than SMU students. Stunts like this really chap the hides of Bama alums and fans.
the difference is that they have as many as 10-20,000 students attending the games
my kids both went to Clemson and you can generally expect about 50% of the undergraduate population to attend home football games (most stand in the endzone where Clemson runs down the hill). Would be nice if we had 3,000 students attend our games

actually...yes, I've been to Clemson several times and every time I visit, I like it more and more. As for nothing to do...well, that's true if you are all about the city and don't especially like being outdoors, but for a guy like me, they have an on campus golf course and lake and you aren't far from the mountains. It's also a nice little college town with night life and attractive coeds. My son had the option of SMU and plenty of others (he was born in Dallas and did like the city; almost chose Ga Tech) but ultimatly decided on Clemson and for my daughter (who is country equestrian) it was a no-brainer.
1st think I noticed when we went to orientation is the "pride" they have in athletics. They immediately encourage kids to join IPTAY (their equivalent of our Mustang Club) because it gives them an option to purchase a seat rather than stand on the hill. Just an entirely different culture than SMU

Just moved to SC (need to change to ponyinSC); and I love it. I've been to a USC game and a Clemson game, and had a blast at both. Plenty to do in/around Clemson, but mostly outdoors. Closest "big" city is Greenville/Spartanburg, and even that is pretty small compared to Dallas. But I like it.
