ponyte wrote:I know talking about the team's game this week is off topic. What with all the news about UT's coach and firing JJ and talking smack with Turner, it’s hard to talk about this team and their opponent.

Any hoo, this is a 0-9 team with a 0-5 CUSA record with quality loses to Western Kentucky, Rice, UAB and Marshall.

They are scoring an average 19.2 points a game while allowing an average of 38.2 points.

Their 117th in passing and 53rd in rushing.

Anyway, thought I’d mention it in case someone needs a little diversion from the fire JJ, hero worship the Horns, talk to Turner, Hart, CoCs, some bum on the street….
Thanks. SMU loses to USM.

Mrydel... you area funny man.

Mapquest you don't need. Just get to Bishop and Binkley.

SMU should win this game - running away.
Will they? Depends on the preparation.
We have all the players JJ wanted to sign. Some my have flunked out or got hurt but these are his guys. Coach them up, have them prepared and we can win most games. We should have two more wins this year.

Love the Line!

Wish I could be there. But other sudden family events have conspired to prevent my road trip this weekend. I will be watching in blue as well.

A few more notes

We are 0-3 against USM (I know many will use this to predict we continue that tradition with USM)

We have never scored more than 12 points in a game against USM.

We are +9 in turnovers and 14th in the NCAA. USM is -13 (10 INTs, 14 Fumbles against 11 total).

Red Zone, we are 74% to USM's 70%

TOP we have 34 minutes + a few seconds to their even 28 minutes.

They have rushed for a total of 1550 yards and we have allowed 1194 yards. They passed for 1325 yards while we have given up 2417 (ouch!).

We have rushed for 1066(Hat tip to William the Conqueror) yards while they have given up 1859. We have passed for 2271 while they have given up 2028.

SMU has lost to opponents from the Big 12, SEC and CUSA. USM has been more generous by losing to the Big East, Big 10, Mountain West and Sunbelt teams to go along with a perfect record thus far in CUSA.

This is a good opportunity for us. The key for us is to not repeat our earlier season accomplishment by allowing a 0-for team to finally get a win.

They couldn't stop it and we have Zach Line.

Sounds like a plan.

What about deep throws on 3rd and short? Did they stop those?

LOL hopefully you won't see too much of that. Unfortunately for USM, June Jones won't be out coached in this game. I can't believe what a monumentally bad hire the Golden Eagles have made.

Don't be too sure about jj being outcoached. He has a way of automatically lowering his capabilities to match those of his competitor (as seen in the Tulane game)..
