Yes, apples to apples. The situation in Tuscaloosa mirrors exactly what is happening here in University Park. You fellas are so darn sharp!

This "genius" comment seems to imply that some of you think SMU fans asking for June to go is just as ridiculous as 'Bama fans would be if they were calling for Nick Saban's head after the A&M loss. That particular point is not sarcasm but rather a ridiculous argument.ponyboy wrote:Genius thread.

It's humor. Why does everyone have to take everything so seriously?SMUer wrote:This "genius" comment seems to imply that some of you think SMU fans asking for June to go is just as ridiculous as 'Bama fans would be if they were calling for Nick Saban's head after the A&M loss. I honestly believe a lot of people are gonna be upset if we win our next two games.

Don't see why they would be.Junior wrote:I honestly believe a lot of people are gonna be upset if we win our next two games.
Whether we win or lose, June probably isn't going anywhere.

Re: Fire Saban
I disagree - I think it's 50/50 or maybe a little better that he's gone. He is clearly going through the motions and is no longer engaged, and much like Don Nelson later in his career once he's no longer interested he ends up moving on one way or another.
We'll have a new coach next year, and I'm not so sure we'll be paying June the full $4 mil left on his deal, either. I think he wants out that bad.

The people who are comfortable (some elated) with 5 to 7 win seasons will beg him to stay because they will feel SMU can't do better than mediocrity. I like how Larry Brown said his goal is to win championships while June said his goal from the beginning of the year was to get to Hawaii. Two contrasting styles.

Re: Fire Saban
I agree. I think the money guys are happy we're winning more than we used to, but very frustrated that the program has stagnated at 6 or 7 wins per year. Along with our dismal record against top 25 teams and even those with winning records. JJ brought us where we needed to be to jump off into the next tier of college football teams, but it's going to take someone else to help us make the leap.03Mustang wrote:I disagree - I think it's 50/50 or maybe a little better that he's gone. Oh my goodness, you know where I stand. I enjoyed the humor of the original post. June probably needs to go -- let's just enjoy the season and not hurt recruiting by harping on it day and night and night and day. We know your stance. We know everyone's stance. Drumbeat don't help.SMUer wrote:This "genius" comment seems to imply that some of you think SMU fans asking for June to go is just as ridiculous as 'Bama fans would be if they were calling for Nick Saban's head after the A&M loss.
