aTm beats Alabama 29-24

I guess I haven't made myself clear. My argument is that winning a national championship against whoever it may be is bigger than a win against a number 1 team.
Re: aTm beats Alabama 29-24
The body of work was probably different back then as well since aTM has never beaten a top 10 team. Apparently they did not play a top ten team on the way to the NC's. So even if they won an NC this would be a bigger win in current opinion from Aggieland. They did something today that they have never done in the history of the school and I would have to agree with them.

Reasonable people can differ. To me the SMU win against TCU to go to the Rose Bowl and win the national championship was bigger than if SMU were to beat the #1 ranked team in a regular season game simply because of the implications.

They beat Oklahoma when they were ranked #1 like a decade ago.Rebel10 wrote:They did something today that they have never done in the history of the school and I would have to agree with them.

TAMU was 1-10 all time vs #1 ranked teams before beating BAMA today.
Now they are 2-10.

Heck the Big XII Championship game against Kansas State was a bigger win. Keep in mind Kansas State was in contention for the BCS championship game with a win in that game.

This is their biggest win ever. it solidifies their position in the conference, shuts up all the UT yapping about how they were going to be dog meat forever in the SEC - and sets them on a trajectory to be within the top two or three team in the SEC year in and out. THey are now the dominant team in texas without question - which means they win a ton of recruiting wars. If you are in Tx, want to play at the highest level and play in the NFL you now hope to go to A&M.

The win also gives them something else to put on the side of their stadium.
Seriously, this is a tremendous win for the program. No fan of aggy, but good for them. Many here moan about how tough our schedule is and we need to play Sunbelt-type teams. Sumlin and aggy go into hostile territory and punch the number 1 team in the nation in the nose. And Sumlin does this in his first year as aggy head coach.

They were wise to sever ties with Big 12 and with Manziel starting 3 more years they will be the marquee team from the State of Texas. This win gives them exposure and a recruiting advantage over everyone else in the state, and it makes UT's pathetic excuses for cancelling their longstanding series look even more pathetic. This is also an example of how competing in the top conference automatically raises your program's esteem.gostangs wrote:This is their biggest win ever. it solidifies their position in the conference, shuts up all the UT yapping about how they were going to be dog meat forever in the SEC - and sets them on a trajectory to be within the top two or three team in the SEC year in and out. If anyone can screw this up it's A&M. It'll be interesting to see how they respond with real live expectations and a bulls eye on their backs starting next season.

Congratulations to the aggies! I'm glad they won.

I think it is, coming at Tuscaloosa with a redshirt freshman quarterback.mustangxc wrote:They've won 3 national championships so it might be the best team they've ever beaten, but certainly not their biggest win ever.Rebel10 wrote:mustangxc wrote:Huge win, but Texas A&M has way too much history for it to be the biggest win in school history.
They have never beaten a top 10 team according to the reports that have been given and since Bama was the #1 ranked team (played them at Bama) then yes this is the biggest win in Aggie history. No one can name a bigger one.
