Very true statement. However, I think that part of the problem is just the aweful attendance. Lowering the lights, pumping up the music and shining spotlights seems pretty silly when 300 people are in the stands and if I was a coach or a player I would not want a flashy introduction with that poor of a crowd. When Brown gets this thing rolling and we get in the Big East and have much better attendance, I imagine the starting lineup presentation will be much more dynamic.
300 people in the stands.... that poor of a crowd? Were you at the game? I know the stands weren't packed but the crowd was a relatively good one and they were loud. 3500 in the stands the largest crowd I can remember besides maybe a Memphis game when they were #2 in the country 5 years ago.

He is saying that in years past we had 300 people in the stands so the flashy introduction would have felt silly with a poor crowd. He did not say that we had 300 people at the LMU game.

If the Moody lights don't go off during the starting lineups AFTER the renovation, I am going to lose my mind. We have the worst introduction in the NCAA.

Get rid of the 1920's lights that take 10 minutes to heat up and add some lights that go on and off with a flick of the switch. Add colored spotlights and lights on the jumbotron that move around and create images on the floor. It's that simple.

Not sure why this is being discussed - we have a new arena on the way

Doesn't mean they will fix the minor issues...SMU usually fails at the execution part

WRONG. While Ford Stadium is certainly not a dump, it's design leaves a lot to be desired from a revenue and from a how does it look on TV perspective. 1) There are entirely too many endzone seats; 2) There are not enough sideline seats (which we can actually sell); 3) The pitch of the stadium is too flat making it feel empty; 4) The TV cameras stations should have been built on the visitor's sideline so they point at the reasonably full home side instead of the constantly empty visitor sidelines; 5) Apparently, June had a problem with the positioning of the lights; 6) Building a building (say an IPF) in the South Endzone would have given the stadium a better feel b/c it will NEVER EVER need 80K seats.

Agreed, in terms of fairly new building Ford has a lot to be desired, lots of issues. Apparently the tennis courts were messed up too

A real intro should look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMxaTunKyDEI took Duke/Cameron Indoor as an example because it is the most similar to us. The sheets would be a little overboard for SMU, but you get the point

Actually that is the "Midnight Madness" intro. Duke does NOT do a lights out spotlight intro for the games during the season. The intro during the season is actually a lot more like our current one. If we want to emulate Duke (and I think that would be great), then what we are doing now is closer than what has been suggested here (although our execution generally sucks). The team runs in to the strains of Blues Brothers. And unless things have changed a lot since I was last there (which is possible), player intros are not done with piped in music, but with the band. Oh, and no smoke at Duke either.
