Looks like Coach Dement finished second to Dane Fife, an administrative assistant with no head coaching experience from Indiana, for the Indiana Purdue Ft Wayne job. Fife played at Indiana, but has not even been able to recruit while the admin assistant there. Coach D also interviewed for the New Mexico State job, but that went elsewhere as well.

That's a shame. The guy is a good coach. Maybe SMU has become the place where coaches go to die.

I agree that Coach Dement is a good coach. Obviously, things went south for him here, and that's a shame. But Coach Dement is a good man, and I wish him all the luck in the world. He'll coach again, and he'll be fine.
