Can't wait for the first two-page feature on Colt (yawn) McCoy.

are you surprised... the Belo's are a bunch of teasips.. why do think the Dallas News and Dale Hanson were all over the "slush-fund" back in the 80's...yes national coverage and too boost their own ego's and paychecks but also b/c the teasips down in austin couldn't stand SMU beating them two years in a row on national tv

I've got two points to make.

First - Dale Hanson is a Husker fan.

Second - I have a real issue with anyone associated with SMU referring to students/athletes/alums of the University of Texas as teasips. this is a term that Aggies use to try to put down Longhorns, inferring that someone who sips tea is more refined, and thus less of a redneck? I would go out on a limb and say that there are more people at SMU with backgrounds/upbringings more likely associated with the act of sipping tea than there are in Austin (unless it's some kind of funky herbal tea).

If you can give me a good reason why someone from SMU should call someone from UT (yeah, U of T) a teasip, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, save it for the 12th man boards.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Hey, Phil: I call 'em Teasips because it pisses 'em off! And there's nothing I like to see more than a pissed off Teasip! Calling them a bovine with an extended horn doesn't [deleted] 'em off...calling 'em a Teasip does! And I hate Teasips with a passion! You sound like a Teasip sympathizer to me.

Not sure why you have an issue with someone from SMU calling a Teasip a Teasip. They have been called that for as long as I can remember and I've been around for quite some time. It's not just the aggies that call them that and in fact I can think of quite a few names I would like to call them that would make Teasips seem damn mild. BTW is your issue only with SMU types using that term?

Yup -- he's a Husker fan. But he's a Husker fan who enjoys putting down SMU. I just hope that one day we're winning a ton, and the school has the guts to deny him all interview requests. He doesn't cover any events -- he sends his guys like George Riba out to do the actual work, and he sits behind a desk and laughs at his own jokes. What a gem that guy is.

I had always figured "teasips" was some sort of gay reference. Now that I know better it is probably best to let that term die. UT is could hardly be called more refined or "tea drinker" than the average state U these days and SMU is the ultimate example of rich boy refinement. And I doubt anyone actually at UT would find the term offensive. But then again, these things really don't need to make any sense do they?

The only thing worse than being disrespected by UT fans is to be tolerated and even incouraged. That sucks.

As some of you on this board already know, I am moving to Austin... as much as I love the city, the puke orange simply burns my soul... c'est la vie, I'm only there for two years (at most).

In recent history, I have been to a couple of home UT games, and have a regular tailgate group (the "good" -ehemmm- folks from hornfans.com)... I wear solely SMU paraphanalia, and boy does it blow when I have an extended conversation (or several) with folks who say, "man, it really sucks what happened to you guys. It really sucks how we sold you guys up the river" and "I really hope you guys are good again soon." So much so, I have to walk over to the resident old guy (I mean real old- octeganarian old) who curses my Craig James or Eric Dickerson jersey. Don't know his name but he's a piece of work, more UT fans need to be like him... "I hope you guys never win another game..." he goes on to say the two greatest football games he ever attended were both UT losses to SMU. He describes them in vivid detail, and you get just to the point where you feel like he's going to cry over the bitterness, until he turns back to anger, "I hope you guys rot in worthless existence." Needless to say, I love that guy. I'll take horn fan who hates me over a horn fan who encourages me any day. It's a sign of respect... this well wishing crap is a slap in the face, but I guess our sucktitude deserves it.

On to "Teasips"...

This is another thing that irks me... they don't even know the term. I'm moving in with a buddy of mine and his fiance- well, his fiance likes to wear a puke orange shirt with the word "TEASIP" on it because she thinks it's funny. She thinks it's even more funny how she has to explain it to everyone. Arggghhhhh. They're so full of themselves they don't even know the historical derogatory terms for themselves. Though, I do think it's fun when SMU folks call them teasips. Kind of undermines those beautiful old signs from the days of the Cadillac Classic- "MY MAID WENT TO UT".

The only thing that really makes them angry is the upside down longhorn hand jiggery-pokery, "wah, it's disrespectful", hell yeah it's disrespectful!!! "I hate Houston Nutt, wahhhh, upside down horns, wahhhh." Shut up, it's college sports. You're supposed to hate your opponent with more energy than you love your best friend (note- you better love your girl/wife more than you hate some school... but, uh, that's just some friendly advise).

Anyway, I'm done with my ranting. And BTW, I am basically buying out the bookstore and spirit shop in preparation for my move... if only I could find my tweny year old "I ain't afrain of no Irish" tee-shirt for my upcoming trip to the Chicago-land area... (Doubt I'd fit in it, but it was really big on me as a kid.)

PonyExpress83's just my name. Class of '01...

...and for all of you A-town based Ponies, Thaddeus Matula's on his way.
