You can't compare staffs. The hoops staff was the result of a who's who think tank, that pretty much didnt even include SMU brass. Fball was just an eclectic island guy hiring his buddies. The Magnum PI of chuck and duck. The hoops staff is also paid exorbitantly, industry shattering money.

No, you absolutely can't compare staffs, but we need to get to a point where you can. Does football luck into the scenario of a HOF coach actively seeking the job? Probably not. But we proved with LB & Co that money ain't our problem, so I would love for a similar search approach to happen for JJ's replacement (and I hope it started a month or so ago). JJ needs to finish the season, be forcefully "persuaded" to retire or go elsewhere, and Hart needs to have the next guy ready to go. Sorry to slightly derail a BB thread, but the parallels are undeniable and football needs to catch up or the move to the BE is going to be humiliating.

Parcells is a hell of a talent evaluator. Hell, many of the current top Cowboys players right now come from the Parcells era. Still, I don't think he would do it, nor do I think it would be the best fit for us, unless of course he literally pulls a Larry Brown and surrounds himself with amazingly young and efficient recruiters/coaches.

Latest Arkansas rumor is that they are getting Gruden for $6,000,000 a year. Supposedly he is making $5 million at ESPN rather the the $10 often stated. Insiders say that while Arkansas paying $6 million a year for a coach is on the table, they still do not think Gruden is in play.

They are talking numbers that could sway Patterson however if he is money motivated.
