Although a game at Jerry World is a greater possibility than a game in Ford (which will never happen) UT Officials have stated over the years several times that they don't intend to play 2 games in the Metroplex. That's two games away from 100,000 X a conservative estimate of $100 per ticketholder in seat options, ticket revenue, concessions, purchased goods and parking. That's 10 Million reasons why they won't play SMU in Dallas. ..

My, my. How we put upon UT all those years in the SWC - making those poor devils play two games in Dallas every other year.

To borrow from John F. Kennedy on this 40th anniversary of the first moon walk:

I believe that this school should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the next decade is out, of putting a boot up Bevo's @ss on the football field and returning safely to campus. No single football project in this period will be more impressive to us all, or more important for the long-range health of our program, and none will be so diffucult or expensive to accomplish.

We choose to beat Texas and the other things, not because they are easy but because they are hard.

Meanwhile, can we beat Rice?

2009 Ticket Prices
· Season tickets: $375
· North end zone club level season tickets: $525. North end and East side club level seats include a food surcharge. Please refer to the TheLonghornFoundation.com for more information on the food surcharge.

· Individual game tickets
09/05 vs. Louisiana-Monroe (Austin): $65
09/19 vs. Texas Tech (Austin): $95
09/26 vs. UTEP (Austin): $70
10/10 vs. Colorado (Austin): $80
11/07 vs. Central Florida (Austin): $70
11/21 vs. Kansas (Austin): $80

I've been going to UT games my entire life and I rarely remember spending more than $25 per person on food/drink expense.

because Pye didn't understand how important it was to do what was necessary to be in the Big XII, in my opinion.

But since we play them, it would sure as hell be nice to beat them.

Rice also plays Baylor 2010-2016 (our last schedule released is 2016)

2010: @ Rice
2011: @ Baylor
2012: @ Rice
2013: @ Rice
2014: @ Baylor
2015: @ Baylor
2016: @ Rice

Baylor's 2011 schedule

Sept. 3 TCU
Sept. 10 at SMU
Sept. 17 Stephen F. Austin
Sept. 24 Rice

Makes me miss the SWC...

Baylor will play SMU & Rice every year from 2011-2016...so much potential for mini rivalries.

I like Rice Stadium. Hardly a dump. Just historic.

The sterile environs of reliant stadium would bug me for this matchup.

Rice removed something like 25,000 seats from the stadium, and it seats less than 50,000 now - it wouldn't be practical to re-install all those seats for 1 game.

Did they actually remove the bleachers or do they cover the north EZ section on game day with an enormous tarp?

I also like Rice Stadium.

They took out the seats in both end zones and covered the surface with tarps.

Late getting into this, but Missouri cancelled football series with Illinois for the same reasons. It was in St Louis and Mizzou wanted home games..........and the Kansas game took priority.
