In case you haven't seen the reports, SMU great, Kyle Rote, passed away today. My sympathy goes out to the family of this legendary Mustang.

Re: a sad day.....
A very sad day indeed.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Re: a sad day.....
I just wonder how many SMU fans know who Kyle Rote was...? The obituary that I read today praised him as one of the kindest yet hard-working players that ever hit the field, both collegiate and professionally. I had the great fortune of meeting him once at an SMU Homecoming along with Doak Walker. Sadly, both are gone now. If you don't know who Kyle Rote was, please take a minute to visit the SMU Hall of Legends at Ford Stadium before or after a game. There are GREAT stories to be told about Mustang football (and other sports) from over the years and Rote is one of them. Rest well, Mr. Rote. You were a LEGENDARY Mustang and this is one fan who won't forget you.
