Here's what Jason actually said in the other thread: "That said, after losing to Rice and Tulane, and barring a major upset next week, I could certainly understand if he would be let go. I would just caution that we still need a very special hire to be successful at SMU. Jones did a much better job than Doh, but we need a Larry Brown level hire in order to be successful in the Big East in football. We have hired all kinds of assistant coaches here to be head coaches in the past 25 years and they just don't have the pull with the administration to build a successful program."SMU_Alumni11 wrote:Hopefully you are drunk ECM, i had a little respect for you. Kind of hard now. Trolling? Im starting to think the barely-made-it graduates of SMU on here are really stinking up the board. Jason, your comment wasnt bad, but I have seen you trying to spin that JJ is a good coach and has given me the impression you still want him around. I believed you said in another post that who else are we going to get. Which again gives the assumption, since there is no one than we might as well ride it out with JJ.
ECM, truly hope you get your [deleted] together. You have been getting nuts on the board, and have been truly "tiresome" in your comments. Especially when you countlessly made mistakes on what people are saying to you, in which you go into a drunken spew of anger. If you like keep up the "insults," it only makes me. I only say this for these comments for SMU's behalf on trying to maintain a decent reputation.
I don't think that seems unreasonable...and please stop with the BS harassment of anyone who doesn't follow your line of thinking 100% all the time. And it's not just you Alumni11, it's a lot of people on here. Ya'll are to the SMU fanbase what the Tea Party is to the Republican Party. Just because someone doesn't agree with you 24/7 on every issue doesn't make them "small minded" or any less of an SMU fan. There should be room for differing opinions on this message board; otherwise, what's the point of even having one?
Has this season been a disaster? Yes. Is it time for SMU to go in another direction with respect to the football program? Yes, it appears so. Has June Jones done a lot for our football program since he came here five years ago? Uh, yes. Has everyone forgotten the 0-11 and 3-8 seasons and 25 years of not making a bowl game? We were one of the laughingstocks of college football. Maybe someone who graduated in 2011 doesn't realize how far we've come as a program, but I don't think it's "small minded" or "juvenile" or whatever insults were hurled at me yesterday to suggest that JJ deserves some credit for how far our program has come. Yes, there is still a lot of work to be done and progress to be made. And yes, it's clear that it's time for someone new, but for Pete's sake, yall act like he abused children or something.
