Skyline is changing

Postby friarwolf » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:38 pm

Went to the game last night - which was awesome. The kids are playing great. Didn't have the first substitution until around the 12:00 mark. Last year, Doh would have already subbed 10 times.

I digress......Parked in Binkley and on my way to the stairs, looked south and was amazed at how quickly the sophomore housing has sprung up. It is topped out and looks to be close to bricking phase of the exterior. What a change to our campus skyline. If you haven't been to campus in the last 6 months, you are going to be shocked..................

Yeah, I went to the USM football game and sat on the west side. Noticed the sophomore housing looming up behind Ford. When I think of what that side of campus looked like in my day compared to now, its breathtaking. SMU extends all the way to Central Expressway now.

Won't be shocked if at some point we cross over Central to include academic or housing over there too.

It is pretty cool. I kind of like how Ford looks more in place with buildings around it and not just by itself

We now own over 50 acres on the east side of Central. Big stuff still coming.

That would be cool. I wonder what that would cost from the city/state and the construction?

I got a marketing survey asking what it would take to donate more money to SMU.

Response: baseball
"This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"
"That poor kid has to be wondering what is dad doing."

What's going on with all these renderings... To keep car noise down?

Yes. Those are real renderings of 75 near campus to keep noise down.
