King Commits to Bears
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorDAMN!
Thanks for the update, SicEm. Worst part about this story: "With Baylor looking for junior college help in the offensive and defensive lines, King said the Bears also are recruiting Blinn offensive lineman Kurt Falke (6-6, 316) from Bellville and defensive tackle Leander Singleton (6-2, 285) from Jasper." They sure would look good in Red & Blue. "Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in .... next to soccer."

Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorWho cares? Chris Phillips is the man. I would rather have Phillips playing QB than a traditional drop back passer. SMU needs to wake up and recruit JC players for defense and offensive line. We have our QB.
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorI totally disagree.
While I love Chris Phillips, we need to bring in someone with Maturity who has been through a JC for a couple of years. Even though it is a JC, just the expereince of having been through spring practice and the rigors of full seasons is important to have. It is important to have some experienced leadership. I would suggest, however, that we will bring in an OC who likes a mobile QB (such as Bennett likes), and we will most likely recruit that type of QB going forward. We don't need Dane King to sit in the pocket and get pummeled due to our inexpereinced OL.
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorIs King who we wanted or is there another - the rumor was one out of kansas?
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorOf the four QB's we supposedly are interested in, two have made verbals elsewhere:
Dane King-Bayor Jason Swanson-Kansas Chad Wilmott Justin Allgood At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorSo can anyone offer a breakdown between Wilmott and Allgood?
Re: Blinn JC QB Dane King verbals to BaylorWe wanted Dane. He was on campus last weekend.
If anyone cares, King started the first 7 games for Baylor and got hurt the week before the A&M victory. He was penciled in as the starter going into spring. King announced he was leaving Baylor and going to some Arkansas Div. II school. Good for us because our first oponent's starting QB left.

They just started Spring ball, which is odd to me, but I think they intend to rely on the QB that led them to their stunning victory over the forward-looking Aggies. Makes sense because it was their biggest win in years and years. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
While King had a big arm, his ego was bigger, IMO. He got hurt during the Iowa State game and the very next week, Shawn Bell led us to a win over A&M.
King never really bonded with his teammates, some of whom felt that he was given the starting job and never really earned it over Shawn. King's JUCO coach then got the Henderson State job and a took several of his players from Blinn to go with him. King decided to follow along with him for his senior year. While King would have gone into Spring drills as the starter (since starters don't lose their position on the depth chart due to injury), he would have had a hard time holding off Bell, IMO. Right now, Bell probably has the edge on the starting position over Terrance Parks, a sophomore from Lufkin. Bell is a 6'0" QB who is a coach's son and makes up for lack of arm strength by making good decisions. Parks is 6'4" 235 and has a strong arm and running ability, but is still a little raw. Two distinctly different style QBs.
