Coaching changes

Postby Waz » Mon Apr 04, 2005 2:46 pm

Centenary hired Arkansas Assistant, Rob Flaska to run the ship, with Coach Dement a close second. Three seconds place finishes doesn't do you any good if you are competing for head jobs. No one wants to take someone elses left overs. Hopefully he will catch on as an assistant in a good program and get a second chance after a couple of seasons.

does he deserve a second chance? really?

he had some decent talent here (not great albeit) and wasn't able to do anything with it.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Consider what he inherited from Shumate.
Hell yes he deserves another chance. Coach Dement is a good coach. He'll do well somewhere, and I wish him well.

Perhaps career move would be helpful

One way to judge the SMU program will be to watch how well former SMU coaches do at other schools once they leave us. SMU might be a career killer for some of them. If the former coahces succeed elsewhere, then we will know how much of our losing problems are the school's fault. I wish Dement and all others who have served SMU the very best in thier careers where ever they go.
