CUSA here we comeNow that we're into talking about the fall and beyond, its a good time to focus on CUSA. Next year we get Marshall, ECU, UAB, Tulane, Houston, Rice, Tulsa, UTEP. ECU, Tulane, Rice and UTEP are home games, Marshall, UAB, Houston and Tulsa are on the road. I plan on attending the Marshall game and am trying to get the DC alumni chapter to put together a weekend road trip to Huntington for the game. What conference road games do the rest of you plan on attending? How many conference games will the band go to? I hope they at least go to Houston and Tulsa. Marshall/UAB might be a stretch. Its really important (I think) to see Peruna and the band make a showing in our new conference to let them know we're here and hopefully pump up the players to win a game or two on the road. Even if its only for one year, it would be a great way to say hello.

Do you need anymore ice? Let me help you arrange those deck chairs.
Thanks captain for posting the Daimond M Club URL. I hope people on this board look at it and make a pledge. You are correct that is cost money. The UAB trip would cost about $25,000 to send the band. That is a nice chuck of change, but if RichAlum and others want to show their support, we certainly will accept it.
As of right now, the band will be going to Texas A&M and Houston. We are working on funding the Tulsa trip. A direct link to the membership page is: http://www.diamondmclub.org/membership.htm Just send 'da money.
Unfortunately, noone can run their mascots across the field during the games anymore. Same rule applies to Colorado's Buffalo, which is actually a bison.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Thanks for the url. Wow, a Birmingham trip is that much. Its a mere 10 hour bus ride. And we only have what 50 band members now, we'd only need one bus. Okay two buses- for equipment, too. Or do they follow in an 18 wheeler. Just kidding, I would just love to show our new conference mates that we have a great football team and a great tradition. But you're right about it costing.
The other problem we have is going to UTEP next year. Again, it is an 11 to 12 hour bus trip, which is just tooooooooo long to sit on a bus. So going to UTEP would also require a charter flight. This trip will also cost about $25,000. So it appears that if the university and fans want the band, we need to increase the travel budget by $25K per year. This would send the band to all of our C-USA division opponents every year.
More about this is coming soon from the Mustang Band Partnership. Just send 'da money.
You band guys are young, you can sleep on the bus, party on the way back. Have the freshman wait on the upperclassmen like serfs. Some of my favorite memories from SMU were the road trips to places like Lubbock and Fayetteville. Five guys, a case (or two) of beer, one car and hit the road. Am I wrong, but didn't the band bus trip to Lubbock when we were in the SWC, that was an 8 hour drive as I recall?
You bet we did. Left campus at 3:00am, bussed to Lubbock, ate lunch, performed at the game, left the stadium, picked up supplies and muchies, bussed back to campus, arrived at 4:00am. IT CAN BE DONE!!!! I DID IT!!!! Just send 'da money.
Re: CUSA here we comeI'm planning on UAB, Houston and Tulsa and Texas A&M in the OOC game on Sept. 17 for my 'road trip' games.
I might visit my DAD in Columbus, OH. Does anyone know the driving time to Huntington, WV, from there?
Pony Up
Huntington is 150 miles from Cincinnati heading down the AA highway from the Northern Kentucky area. Add about 100 miles from Columbus so you should have about a 4 hour drive to Huntington. It is a pretty easy drive and should be nice first part of October. Hope to see lots of Mustangs in Huntington.
