Sergio Kindle- WOW!

Postby LA_Mustang » Fri Nov 12, 2004 11:59 am

You think this kid can play? He ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns last night in the first round of the playoffs against previously unbeaten and #5 state-ranked Hebron.....the DMN HS writer had Hebron as the #1 team in the state. Kindle finished second in 4A rushing yards in the Metroplex.
What makes this so impressive is that he’s widely considered the top junior DEFENSIVE player (linebacker) in the country.
He’s 6’3” 220lbs and runs a 4.5 -40 yard dash. This is one helluva athlete.
I'm sure every school in the nation is after him but we can dream cant we?

Woodrow Wilson shocks No. 1 Hebron, 44-15

By DAVE LANCE / Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News

GARLAND – Hebron scored 50 points five times during the regular season and beat all 10 of its opponents by an average of five touchdowns.
SportsDay's top-ranked 4A team trailed only once all season, and that was only for one possession. So the fact that its game against Woodrow Wilson on Thursday night wasn't close came as no shock.

That Hebron was on the short end of a 44-15 beating in the Division II Region II bi-district game was a shock.

Sergio Kindle, Woodrow Wilson's bruising 6-3, 220-pound running back, rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.

"They underestimated," Kindle said. "We played with heart and intensity. They thought because they were 10-0 they would blow us out. Not to brag or boast, but we wanted it more. That's all I got to say."

Kindle, who sat out last week's game with injuries, had 136 rushing yards at halftime. He showed speed and power in the first half, displaying the former on a 72-yard touchdown run in the second half that gave Woodrow Wilson a 21-7 lead.

Hebron lost two first-half fumbles on kickoffs and hiked a snap over the punter's head for a second-quarter safety.

Woodrow Wilson took advantage of some fortunate bounces.

On the opening kickoff, a Hebron fumble led to Kindle's 3-yard touchdown run. In the third quarter, Woodrow Wilson quarterback Reggie Green fumbled, recovered on one bounce and scored a 10-yard TD without breaking stride. It gave Woodrow Wilson a 30-7 lead.

As a linebacker, he is the single-best high school player I've ever seen. He's absolutely dominant.

Remember how good Marcus Mosley was coming out of HS? This guy's better. A lot better. He's scary.

What's really frightening is that he could be a top-shelf recruit at RB, too. But I've heard some people (who know a lot more about the game than I do) say he's as close to a can't-miss NFL prospect as they've seen in ages. Kindle is a complete stud.

Rivals article today indicates that Sergio would be a top 10 in the nation recruit THIS year at any position, if he was graduating. He will be the top recruit in Texas next year and probably the top in the nation. Right now he has high interest in Missouri and medium interest in Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A$M, and Oregon.

Um .... Missouri? Excuse me?

As a running back, I've heard him compared to Adrian Peterson, and as a linebacker, and the name I keep hearing to describe his LB abilities is Wilbur Marshall. That's some really serious company.

If all this is true, why are we getting all slobbery over someone who apparently we have absolutely no shot at. We are not even making the medium list.

Same for Demarcus Granger. Per Rivals, here is the list of schools that he is visiting and it doesn't even include Texas or A$M:

LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Arkansas.

Nice to have you on PonyFans.com.

Tell him he needs to come to SMU - being a star in his hometown, one of those who raised SMU back up to a new level, etc.

Bounce that off him, will you?

He would be a star at SMU, and the media would take notice of the local stud!

Why Missouri? Is he going to pass up the NFL for a career in journalism?

Kindle is an athlete you have to see to believe. He could play RB for any team in the country, but my guess is that every team in the country wants him to play defense. Last I heard he was bigger than the numbers listed -- I have him at 6'4" and between 230 and 235. I have coached, scouted and analyzed high school players for nearly 20 years, and I have never seen a player with his combination of size, speed, athleticism and natural talent. Of course he has a lot of learning to do, but if he develops as most people think he will, he has the tools to be a Jevon Kearse-type defensive player, either at OLB or DE, if he continues to grow. As an SMU alumnus, I'd love to see him go to SMU, but to say it would be a longshot would be an understatement. Every major program in the country already is after him. I would be very surprised if he is not the top-ranked player in the nation at any position next year. He's clearly the best junior in the country that I know about to this point.

Committed to UT, which now has 17 scholarship players committed. Since there commitment total is nearing the max, I guess they will have a lot of walk-ons with all the players listing UT as their primary choice!

They are doing what the rest of the world does in late January...squeezing kids to commit because there may not be a scholarship tomorrow. They will probably fill up the 2007 class by signing date in 2006.
