Pls recall that Hart thanked ACC commissioner Swofford in his intro presser

Re: Hart and the ACC
The ACC would have to be completely gutted for us to have any chance at an invite.

Re: Hart and the ACC
The ACC is in the process of being completely gutted, and we just might make a short stop there before moving on to the end game.

and if rutgers is good enough for the big ten bc of the nyc market, then smu has appeal for the dallas mkt - trust me, the comparison is apt - nobody cares about nutgers up in nyc

Interesting comparison between Rutgers/NY market and SMU/Dallas market.

Re: Hart and the ACC
good point, Rutgers is irrelevant and nothing but a fill out market for the big ten.OR-See-Nee wrote:Interesting comparison between Rutgers/NY market and SMU/Dallas market.

If we are going to play markets wouldn't they go for Houston for that market? It is the 4th largest city

Yeah I see its barely behind but I imagine most of it is because of the historic cowboys and crazy rangers. Nevertheless I admit DFW does have the edge.

Re: Hart and the ACC
The NY area has historically always been a pro sports market. On rare occasions in the distant past ST. John basketball held the interest of the city, but even that was cyclical. College football has never had any impact in the region. Only ND commands any football attention in the area. Bottom line is that the Big 10 will derive almost no increased regional interest by adding Rutgers.Hoop Fan wrote:good point, Rutgers is irrelevant and nothing but a fill out market for the big ten.OR-See-Nee wrote:Interesting comparison between Rutgers/NY market and SMU/Dallas market.

Re: Hart and the ACC
True, but the Big 10 is more interested in the additional states in which it can expand its Big 10 network. Don't have the exact figures, but the Big 10 network charges more for subscribers in states in which it has schools vs. states in which it does not.PoconoPony wrote:Bottom line is that the Big 10 will derive almost no increased regional interest by adding Rutgers.

It is based on number of TV sets. The DFW media market has more people than the Houston area market.SMU_Alumni11 wrote:Yeah I see its barely behind but I imagine most of it is because of the historic cowboys and crazy rangers. Nevertheless I admit DFW does have the edge.
