Forgive me if I missed this. I've been out of pocket for a while. Was the addition of Ritter to the football team possibly a move to free up a bball scholarship? Bear Bryant rule says he has to count against fball, right?

If so, does that mean we've got a big bball recruit looking to come on board?

As of yesterday, Paulus Rittter was still on a basketball scholarship. If he wants to play football in the fall, though, he HAS to move to a football scholarship. Paulus wants to play football, but I dont think there is a scholarship currently available. We signed more players than we had available scholarships this spring, I dont see where they would find another one for Ritter. Someone else would have to leave the team to make a ship available. Thats my perspective, at least. I cant honestly say if Coach Bennett thinks he's good enough to give a scholarship to, or not. But, if he's still playing football after the Spring Game, he's off basketball scholarship.

So, XtC, if we don't have enough scholarships, which of the 'signed' recruits from Feb have to "GrayShirt"?

Dizer, Alexander and Hickman are grayshirting.

And technically, I think Ritter could continue to practice football on a basketball scholarship. But you're right, if he takes a snap in a game, he has to go to a football scholarship.

I think.

SWC2010- There was a thread on this board back in February about the Grayshirts, Josh Hickman actually posted in it, and mentioned he had torn his acl. You could probably find it if you looked back through the older posts.

Corso- Yes, as far as the NCAA is concerned a player can practice with the football team while on scholarship for another sport, as long as they dont play in a game. But, as far as Jimmy Tubbs is concerned, if Paulus is on a basketball scholarship then he needs to be participating in the basketball workouts. If Paulus wants to play football past this point, he isnt going to stay on basketball scholarship.
