Someone who should know told me after the win yesterday that Spencer Hollie committed on his official visit from California.
The recruiting services say defensive end, but if Hollie is a legit 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, I see him moving inside to tackle.
Can anyone confirm?

True, at least is how he was introduced to a few of us that remembered his father playing on our great teams.
I don't know what class, but he looks like a major "get"

Some info on him...sounds like he just started playing football for the varsity his Junior year so not much on him. Second team in his league for first year. Big kid though.

Re: DT Commit?
Pure speculation. With his size now and the potential to get bigger, might he be an O line prospect a well?
And in our current D scheme if he is athletic then DT is a good fit with his size.
Any who, sounds like a great potential pick up and it helps that we have some family connections.

Re: DT Commit?
6'5 is rather tall for a NT. The recruiting services did not totally pigeon hole him in as a DE. He played all only the line. The services also noted that he was a good left tackle as well. Let's leave to the coaches as oppose to trying to discredit the recruiting services. He is kind of raw and will profit from a redshirt. Glad to have him.
Here is a free interview with him and tells where Coach Hill would like him to play. http://smu.scout.com/2/1243561.html

Re: DT Commit?
Correct a 6-5 kid is likely to be a DE in a 3-4 and DT in a 4-3. Not likely a NG in 3-4 because that position requires a NG to anchor middle with leverage,

Re: DT Commit?
i am hoping we are at the point where we dont have to convert a DE into an offensive tackle. That would be a bad sign for our offensive line. a 6-5 inch. 275 lb Defensive tackle (not NG) in the 3-4 sounds perfect - if he can get a good push off the line.
he needs to be introduced to a weight bench for 18 months and then lets see what we have. make this guy a beast.
