Remaining Out of conference Games

Postby gostangs » Sun Nov 25, 2012 9:20 pm

6-1 with 8 out of conference games remaining. 3 at home and 5 away.

Next 4 - Utah home and away (weird) and Hofstra and Rhode Island away. Can we split those 4?

Second group of 4 - Cable Car classic - Wagner , then probably santa clara, followed by Furman and Wyoming, both at home. Can we get 3 of these 4?

Can we go 5-3 and start the conference with 11 wins? That would be very sweet.

discuss amongst yourselves, or just give the pat "win the next one - beat Utah" answer

Going to be tough to get 3 of those last 4. Not saying it can't be done but it will be tough to do.

One game at a time, grasshopper. most important opponent is next one, don't get ahead of yourself.

not to sound negative, but biggest disappointment to me was losing to UALR, as it denied us a game against an SEC opponent. Luckily we did not leave PV 0-2.

I was looking at our schedule as well, including C-USA. I think 11 wins is doable.

For the season, hoping we can get near 20 wins (assuming no injuries) and maybe an NIT bid.

I think we would get selected because of LB. And how about this for a change, our first game would NOT be on the road. It would get decent ratings at Moody. And the NIT would want us to win, so maybe a patsy opponent, then another game at Moody.

4 more wins to 10. Rhode Island beat Auburn tonight so that will be another tough one as well.

About a week or so ago I said 14 likely and the rest toss-ups. My guess was that we would be 1-1 in the last tourney though I thought it would have been the other way around.

What we have seen from this team is that none of the starters can have an off game or get in early foul trouble. That is going to happen in some of our next games which are almost all going to be close matchups. Individual games will be tough to call.

The fact that the football team won and that FB players will not play BB till after the bowl game means that a few games this year may be lost that could have been won if they were able to contribute sooner since it takes time to be a contributor and add to the bench.

Is it realistic to expect the Football players to come in and play at a higher level than our incoming freshman (who are already riding the bench)?

The football players might be in great shape, and have been ballers in HS, but not playing organized ball at a high level for 2-3 years... I dont think they'll be any better than Brian or Uche who are already riding the pine. I see Brian getting better with practice, and the others providing emergency depth.

Someone with more knowledge care to weigh in?

We will find out soon. All I know is that Coach Brown wants them. Should be fun to watch.

That was part of my point that they will have a month less to practice, but they will certainly be more physical.

there is not one football player that should ever touch the court. They will get smoked in a basketball game. to think otherwise is to no nothing about basketball. Maybe Margus could give an inside guy a minute or two to catch his breath - but if he ever had to handle the ball it would be a feeding frenzy.

also - football shape is not the same as basketball shape.

I think Larry was just having some fun with that comment.

June has already spoken with Acker about it and he wants to do it. Acker was an all state guard in HS.

he may want to do it - but there is no way a football guy can come in and contribute - especially at guard. he would be eaten alive

Arkansas has been pretty successful doing it. Matt Jones when he was there and last year Brandon Mitchell. They both contributed very much.
